Sample size was way too small to make judgements on Tari's overall impact. Tari played in 24 total games (13-11 record) last year. Dillon for example was a Top 10 3 point shooter through January. Jabari also started well from 3 and tapered off from tired legs. Right now Tari's health is a huge question mark and he also plays the most stacked position on the Rockets roster. Amen, Dillon, Tari and Cam can all play the 3. The Rockets biggest issue last year was that they simply couldn't put the ball in the basket and had a really hard time on the road. Saying that Jabari = Tari offensively is disingenuous as Jabari's offensive game is levels beyond Tari's. Just because they're percentages are similar doesn't mean their games are the same. Let's say you give the ball to Tari in the post at the baseline and he's being defended by Jrue Holiday. Now say the same thing for Jabari. Who is more likely to score? Regardless, I think the reason we are all chomping at the bit to get this season started is so that we can finally either confirm our suspicions or be proven wrong. Jabari and Tari are far from the only Rockets with something to prove this year but both have questions that need answering. I can understand why people might think that Tari is a better player, I'm just not quite there and am admittedly much lower on Tari than consensus. Well see. I could see a mini-Kawhi in there but I haven't seen enough flashes to say Tari could get there.
This list suggests that their "Helper," stat is meaningless, no? John Collins and Sam Hauser and Giannis, oh my. Just doesn't pass the smell test.
One thing I heard about Jabari some pages ago that was enticing is the report (from his father?) that he's been working on putting more arc on his shot. Any indication that this is so? I was skeptical of his shooting when I saw the stroke; the college 3-point numbers were exciting, of course, but Glen Rice and Eddie Johnson are the only players I can think of who were excellent 3-point shooters who shot as flat as Jabari. And even then, Rice was only top-top-notch when the line was moved in for three years. Having a flat shot limits your shooting versatility. I'd love to see Jabari get a little rainbow in his shot.
Love Slo-Mo. He and FVV were my top FA hopefuls last two years. I'm just saying, you have great players on the list, good ones, end-of-rotation guys. Looks random.
I really do think that the Rockets frontline is going to be REALLY damn good in the near future on both ends. Not sure who will be the SF of the future, but one of them is going to blow up and I think the time that Bari and Alperen have spent together is going to make us really scary. I am a bit more worried about our backcourt, and the future of our backcourt.
Yes please, but also get his ass moving off the ball so he can create more opportunities for himself and his teammates. The ability to cut and relocate would be my number 1 dev priority for Bari.
So shooters like Gary Trent are gone and whom is he going to pass and assist to in order to get to 10 apg?
Each of his first two seasons? He's improved once between rookie and sophomore year Unless they are talking about the pre&post allstar game splits for his rookie season, if so 30.3% to 31.7% is a generous thing to give him credit on lol. (sophomore splits were a 1% improvement)
Jabari sucks big donkey balls…Nothing about Jabari impresses me, nothing did in college and certainly nothing in the NBA…I don’t think he’s even a key contributor in this team…
When he doesn't rush his shot and shoots them off balance he is very good. Sometimes he launches a shot when he is off balance or just gets the ball and his feet are not set. That is the most frustrating part.
He has the 5th most 3 pointers ever by a player under 21. With the 4 above him being guards. He’s the absolute perfect player along with Reed to pair with Amen Thompson. The more efficient from 3 the players are around Amen mitigates by far his biggest weakness and gives Amen a chance to stay on the floor at the end of games. His perimeter defense and being able to switch with Amen is great as well. I could not be more excited to see how these players fit together and the rest of the team as well. Sorry to see you think he sucks.
