I will say nobody will have a clear win from this. I was out of town at a food show. I was kind of excited to watch the debate, I grabbed a sixer of Sierra Nevada and headed to my hotel room. Settled in and watched the beginning of the debate and had a cold one. don't know what happened halfway through the beer I was straight up asleep. Never to be woken up by screaming or screeching from the debaters. I do not know how many people tuned in with all going on in the southeast, and it being a playoff night for baseball. I checked out the debate the next morning. Nothing I saw came as any revelation. I have already voted anyway.
Yes there wasn’t screaming. Unfortunately many have said they want a less chaotic more civil politics and we get a civil debate with both sides still taking strong different positions and many don’t pay attention.
As should not be surprising the Vance’s claim that Walz signed a law allowing infants to be killed after being born is misleading. https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/v...-spotlight-following-vp-debate-reality-check/
Talk about misleading there is so much in these that are including getting the geography wrong. Where George Floyd died isn’t a few blocks away from the third precinct it’s much farther. Also I’ve never heard of a “little Mogadishu” that’s not what locals call my neighborhood. Violent crime has also been decreasing in Minnesota. https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/ooc/news-releases/Pages/BCA-releases-2023-Uniform-Crime-Report.aspx If y’all really want to know what Minneapolis is like take Anthony Edwards advice and get ya @ss here.
Great for you if you love it there. https://tennesseestar.com/news/minn...caused-by-somali-gangs/agockowski/2019/01/02/ Minneapolis’ ‘Little Mogadishu’ Sees 56 Percent Increase in Violent Crimes Caused by Somali Gangs
I was with the Mrs. at a hotel bar in DC and the patrons there requested it be muted on the huge bar TV. Then the people who wanted to follow it could do so with the captions. Most people just decided to enjoy their conversations instead. And that's honestly what I kind of want of our politics. From what I could tell and what I told the Mrs.: Vance "won" a little b/c we're mammals and just watching those two mammals, he looked more comfortable. Don't put him in a donut shop or a diner or a transmission shop, or much of anywhere else but a VC firm or the Senate. But he handles a debate well enough. Walz of course looked like a coach who would rather be having a beer with friends, new friends, and strangers somewhere. That's just purely non-verbal, which is super important to humans. Maybe it's one reason Trump far over-performs his actual ideas and words: just projecting energy and confidence (at least until the last couple of years).
His answer a littering of social media dung droppings. That tells you all you need to know about his willingness or ability to grasp the issues or understand what is happening.
And that’s from 2019 I just posted stats from 2023 by Minnesota’s own Bureau of Criminal apprehension showing a drop in violent crime. Also yes I do love it here. It’s the only neighborhood I’ve lived in Minnesota. I can bike to downtown and to the Mississippi. I can also walk across the street and get sambusa and down the street and get a craft beer. I was happy to defend it during the George Floyd riots and even though I could move I Have no plans on moving.
Also to add Somalis are more likely to be victims of crime than commit crimes. There unfortunately have been several crimes targeting Somalis including a racial inspired shooting and bombing of a mosque https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Minneapolis_shooting https://www.npr.org/2021/09/13/1036803025/mosque-bomb-sentence Several Somali businesses were looted and burned during the George Floyd Riots.
