I have some musician friends whose groups opened for him and they only had nice things to say about the guy. He was the real deal
Worth rewatching Ep 6 of Ken Burns “Country Music” documentary. here’s an interview with Burns when he talks about Kris Kristofferson
I think this movie was actually how I first knew about him. Had no idea he was the one who wrote Me and Bobby McGee - I thought Janis Joplin had written it. Impressive guy. RIP.
I remember seeing this when I was like 9 years old - it was the Channel 13 Million Dollar movie - and I was captivated and wanted to be a trucker/drunk/bar fighter for Halloween after seeing it... KK was the absolute coolest muther ****** in the world to me for 2-3 years. My mom blamed my Hells Angel uncle who used and sold heroin but still found time to spend withe me every day for wanting to be a marginal member of society at a young age - but the truth is it was KK and Clint Eastwood and the movies Convoy and Gauntlet that set me down the wrong path at an early age.
Yeah man, same here but I swear I saw it on ABC at night, maybe the Saturday million dollar movie. When you see Duck alive at the end with the Jesus hippies and an eye patch, such a moment.
