somehow illegal immigrants do all the crime and somehow find time to take all the jobs and buy up all the housing without the destruction of the border bill, Trump would have nothing to campaign on damn near every issue they bring up immigrants…I’m surprised they don’t bring them up when talking about abortion
Again... Anyone that thinks "Tampon Tim" is a winning nomenclature isn't able to grasp the actual high and low points of the debate.
So Vance lied. He absolutely supported national abortion bans. He couldn't answer who won the last presidential debate. He couldn't answer about separating parents from children regarding the presidential debate. Vance couldn't answer where the Federal land woukd be seized for the housing. He failed with polish but Vance still failed.
I think Liz Cheney coming out so strongly has swayed many. Once she came out directly and supported Harris you saw a lot of other Republicans come and say they supported Harris. There were Republicans who were supporting Harris before but there were also many who just said they didn’t support Trump And were going to vote third parties or write in. Cheney convinced them to not just speak against Trump but for Harris. According to Trump it was just going to magically disappear by Easter 2020.
Vance did his job. Which was not to sound absolutely bat **** crazy and drive potential voters away. I don't think he gained voters, but he didn't lose any either.
Knowledge and polish have never been a problem - the issue is that he doesn't come across as relatable and doesn't come across as sincere. There are a lot of attorney's that I know that are like that. There is a thin line between coming across as polished and as a salesman. I think that Vance did a better job of dialing it back - and did well overall - but has the same issue he has long had, he isn't very likeable or relatable. He did well with handling Walz son witnessing a shooting, but the mask slipped a few times. If someone wants to believe Vance, then they will. Someone that is skeptical or uncertain probably doesn't trust him. Walz was rougher than Vance. He paused a few times, and was nervous the first question. However, he was far more relatable and came across as more genuine. He was about what I expected. He played it close to the vest - he went for singles on a lot of questions. Overall I think both sides will be satisfied. They both went after the same set of voters in different ways and time will tell.... but I suspect this will have zero long term impact.
One of the worst moments for Vance was he complained to the CBS monitors that they weren't allowed to fact check him. Lol. He's on live TV lamenting the fact that he's being fact checked.
Vance is a strong communicator who's tailor made for debates and the interview circuit. It's not surprising that he did pretty well tonight. However, he has the same flaw that Vivek Ramaswamy had during the Republican primary debates. He just comes across as a bit too slick, like a snake oil salesman. Polish isn't always good. Many people, especially women, just won't find JD authentic, trustworthy or likable. Partly because of Trump hamstringing him, partly because of some of JD's own past problematic comments and him being "too online" in general. I'm not impressed with Walz, but he comes across as a more regular guy, and I think that carries weight with some people who are weary of marketing pitches and political drama. VP debates rarely matter, but I do appreciate how cordial this debate has been. No childish name-calling, Walz and Vance behaved like grownups. Refreshing. Moderators were lame.
Tampon Tim? You sound like you’re still in high school angry because people are smarter than you so you resort to name calling. It is really sad bro
Til J.D Vance is more likeable than the oh so likeable Tim Walz.... I won't call him tampon tim anymore because it offends people...
Yeah. Vance is smart. He is a political nerd and knows the topics and genuinely enjoys talking about them - but he isn't relatable or likeable. Even when he tries to relate to people, it comes across as forced and insincere. He said he grew up middle class at least a dozen times, he would randomly throw it in at irrelevant times. It is as if he had an interal timer.... it was awkward, because he is awkward, he isn't a normal guy.
