Dikembe was a difference maker both on and off the court. What always amazed me was this, "Mutombo spoke English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and five Central African languages, including Lingala and Tshiluba." I do good to speak passable Texan. Amazing man, enjoy the afterlife Deke, you earned it!
Didnt even know he was going through cancer. RIP. Legendary careers as a player and humanitarian both. The 22 game streak will not be forgotten.
Literally just yelled "no" when sitting down to catch up on the day's news. Too soon. RIP, Mount Mutombo.
A great sign of affection about Dikembe, was for the Rockets he'd get a block. He'd do that sweet finger wag, for like 7 seconds. Doesnt even run back for offense... NOBODY EVER CARED. Not a single notice. Cuz that wag alone was +15 plus/minus. It gave the paying fans joy. Not even opponents took offense. Win win all around. Mnt Mutombo really was an institution
wow it just hit me I was more interested in seeing him wag his finger after a block than worrying about the team getting back offense. It was a part of the show for sure
Still feeling sick about this passing. I knew it probably wouldn't end well when we had hardly heard anything since his operation a while back, but I was just hoping it was because he was recovering and wanted privacy. Anyway :
My condolences. Great player and even better person. One of the most respected and loved players by his teammates and rivals. Goodbye Dike, we will miss you.
Pic needs Moses and Ralph and Elvin Rox have a pretty damn solid legacy of big men, maybe the best in the NBA
