Cool. Thanks for gatekeeping the league I've been in for 24 years. I'll tell everyone we've been doing it wrong for over 2 decades according to Tomstro. Ironically, I have the 2nd fewest transactions in the league and the guy I'm trying to catch for 1st has the most.
Lol. No need to get all panty twisted. Innings and game started limits for pitchers are also good tools to curb rampant waiver wire raiding. It should be a hollow victory if you throw 20+ more innings or have a bunch more starts, and/or get a ton more at bats than your opponent, simply because you got to the waiver wire before he did. But, by all means, do whatever turns your crank.
Astros need to do their best 2021 Red Sox impression in the ALCS! Three grand slams in the span of 11 innings
I think I would rather Heyward than Chas in the playoffs at this point. I don't think they would carry both would they?
Heyward against rhp, McCormick against lhp. C: Diaz, Caratini, Salazar IF: Singleton, Altuve, Pena, Bregman, Dubon, Dezenzo OF: Tucker, Meyers, Heyward, Alvarez, McCormick SP: Framber, Brown, Kikuchi, Blanco RP: Hader, Pressly, Abreu, Neris, Ort, Ferguson, Arrighetti, Verlander Next up position players: Kessinger, Whitcomb Next up pitchers: King, Martinez
This all makes sense, I think King should make it over Ferguson though, I think he's a more effective lefty. If Scott was healthy then him over Ort.
I wonder who is starting at 1B in game 1 against Skubal. With Yordan's knee, he's going to DH. It will likely be Caratini/Diaz, but I wonder if Dezenzo gets the start.
The Astros have to win both games 2 and 3 if they lose Game 1. I don't think who Detroit's starter is in Games 2 or 3 matter that much as having Brown pitch more in a later series regarding World Series odds. I hate the let's get cute strategies. Framber and Brown are the best the Astros have. Edit: I had to say the first sentence.
The only game theory I'm curious about is whether or not Atlanta, if they win game one... given that they'll then be locked into the playoffs and the #5 seed.... will have any extra incentive to knock out the Mets and actually try and win game 2.
If the Braves win Game 1, they got to protect their pitchers. They still try to win, but not with any pitcher they want to use in the Wild Card Round. I want an extra inning Game 1 of the DH. A nice 18 inning in which the Mets lose having used up their entire pen such that Game 2 is nothing but AAA level pitching in a do or die game.
What if we take game 1? Would you still pitch Brown game 2, or would you pitch Kikuchi game 2 and hope that Brown can go game 1 of the ALDS?
And why have your starters (Braves) play a doubleheader today and then turn around and play a playoff game tomorrow. If they win game one they should go with backups in game two.
I'd pitch Brown as I would go for not having a Game 3 (i.e., saving the pen). Pitching Brown Game 2 would likely yield the most innings for Brown in the postseason. I am not an expert on the Tigers, but I would go with the Astros strengths first before matching up with the Tigers weaknesses. Pitching Framber and Brown as much as possible when they are fresh is the way.
