Actually there’s a lot of delicious food because of rich culture and ethnicity, different places and different authentic food.. if you can PM where will you go, i’ll try searching and asking my friends (because of work, i have been placed in couple of places in Indonesia)..
like @sefril breh has mentioned... i suggest food from "padang" region, or "manado" or "aceh" they will burn a hole thru your tummy. my mum only let's me eat them once in a while. depends what city you'll be in @pippendagimp
I confess…I mentioned A1 sauce just to see if the bbs would react like we did when sources said Harden put A1 on a Tomahawk wagyu steak.
Indonesian food is indeed delicious and underrated. Another one is Burmese (yes I know it's Myanmar now, and Istanbul was Constantinople).
Wow, that’s a very great destinations you got there.. although the distance is kinda far from Raja Ampat to Komodo.. i’ve been there (for company trip lol), Raja Ampat has some breathtaking view of little island and sea view.. Komodo, well, the only place you can see Komodo dragon.. Bali, no explanation needed.. As for the food that you can try: Raja Ampat: Papeda, made with sago flour, sticky, tasteless and liquid like jelly (a very different food lol), you eat it with the fish soup Pulau Komodo: Se’i Sapi, smoked beef, cut into thin pieces and you eat with sambal (chili sauce), vegetables and soup Bali: Ayam Betutu, chicken grill with lot of spice. And you can try the rendang (originally from Padang) in Bali, try to search “restoran Padang” in Bali. I recommend Restoran Sederhana becaue it’s like a franchise so they (i suppose) have some standard in the recipe. but seriously, that’s a very great destinations.. even for Indonesian, not many people have visited all those places..
All of them. There's something like 1500 separate ethnic groups in the country. They were historically a massive waypoint on the spice trade, Dutch East India Company and whatnot. To be more precise: Indian, Thai, Malay, Chinese, Polynesian, European, Middle Eastern, African...it's a true melting pot.
I really, really like how Steven Adams answers questions and clarifies it before he goes into it. He's really intelligent, sensible, well spoken and articulate. Very few guys, even the smart ones, elaborate on things or even break things down like he does. They just do not take the time or cannot articulate well enough. I also like how he's genuine with the reporters, even if they ask the cliche ****. Very rare to see and that's a gift. Love him already as a person.
interesting tidbit from wiki In 1824, Henderson William Brand, a chef to King George IV of the United Kingdom, created the original brown sauce on which A.1. is based.[1] A popular myth has it that the king declared it "A.1." and thus, the name was born.[2] The term "A.1." originated as a ship insurance term in the UK to describe a "first rate" ship by Lloyd's of London.
dam can't help you. @sefril breh gotchu. been to labuan bajo (the island before going to komodo) and bali. don't recall the food, just scenery and beaches. there's a pink beach near komodo island, supposed to be nice. also komodo meat is supposedly ungood.
I wonder what those rankings are based on, and if it is based on surveys that are skewed by native population sizes or the opinions of a few people. Traditional Chinese food for example is not really going to appeal to the masses outside of China, which is one reason why Chinese food gets Americanized in the United States and other countries. The Japanese are really good at integrating foods from other cultures and putting their own spin on it, and I would say Americans are very good at this as well. Having been to all of those countries and spending significant time in them, the US should be ranked higher and Italy probably lower if you are looking at how diverse the options are. Spend a week in Italy and you will realize you get tired of eating Italian food after a few days every single day, and there are not a ton of non Italian restaurants that are great. The Greeks and Spanish are able to diversify their offerings a little more and have an advantage over the US because their produce and meat is simply better than ours that are injected with pesticides or hormones that are banned in most other countries. The UK has been on the come up with offerings in the past decade (assuming due to more immigration), although the average persons meal is not that great and you'd have to venture out to find these places. The US even with our chemical filled produce and meat, I would still say should be higher on that list because of the fact we are a country based on immigrants that have brought the world's best dishes stateside.
