I think anyone would trade for Ant, but the thing is he is too good and Minnesota's front office has the ability to make deals happen. I think Ant is good enough already that players would be willing to ask for a trade to play with him., maybe even at a discount. Ant will be the face of the league once Lebron retires, i think he gives Minnesota until the last year of his contract to do something when he is around 26 years old still. This trade doesn't really make a ton of sense, it seems they sold relatively low on KAT. Unless they don't plan to extend Randle and have other moves planned.
I like KAT but the twin towers were never going to work. His defense is too poor and he’s too soft. You already have a soft rim protector in Gobert. Randle makes their team more balanced. I don’t know who would trade for KAT and offer anything of value. Because I don’t believe you can build around him. He’s a craft offensive player but slow and weak on defense. He makes Sengun look like Hakeem (I really never thought Sengun’s defense was that bad, he just reached a ton his first two seasons).
In case anyone missed it, there is a good new post about Rockets and Steaks by Rockman. This horrible and looong offseason continues…..
...you say the twin towers were never going to work because of defense but they had the one of the best defenses in the associations last year and got to the WCF while their best player was just starting to blossom...unfortunately for them, Luka was already in full bloom....and defensively their coach never made the counter to guard Dallas' bigs on screens like Boston did - choosing to double Luka and giving guys like Lively dunk after dunk after layup after dunk. I agree with the sentiment about KAT - but he isn't why they lost that series - if anything he helped them stay in that series with shooting when Edwards was otherwise ineffective. ...that being said I'm on the fence with this trade. I agree with the sentiment that Nazr Reid's emergence gave them flexibility to trade him and Randle is a more dangerous ISO player and of course Divencenzo is the swiss army knife of roll players. They are deeper now for sure...but I don't know if it necessarily gives them a better 5 man team.
Do you have any proof of this BS? I like how you think the coach is the one telling the ******* owner how to run his own team. I'm sure Ime also told Stone to draft Reed Sheppard cuz he just loves rookies and also told Stone to trade the 2025 pick for 2031 picks cuz he loves that flexibility. And also told Fertita to invest 70M in a new arena cuz he is tired of practicing in the smallest gym in the NBA. The lengths people go to just avoid admitting they were wrong about Fertita and the front office
The Twin Towers may not have worked however their GM should have dumped Gobert instead of KAT. Everyone keeps saying KaT isn't "that guy" and while that may be true he is so much better than Randle it isn't even funny. Randle sucks ass the people thinking this is a win-win trade didn't watch him play cuz that dude is a black hole and also extremely inefficient. Knicks straight up finessed the Wolves and their GM compounded their horrible mistake in the Gobert trade by getting another dude who scored a whopping 48% TS in the playoffs. That's less than 1 pt every time he took a shot lol. Imagine needing more than 40 shots to get 20 a game. They did get Divcenzo and a super protected pick from Detroit but they also just traded for the 9th pick who they used on Rob Dillingham. So they now have 3 small pgs and no backup for Ant. I'm def not impressed with the Wolves GM. People credit him for building the Nuggets and building the Wolves but Murray and MPJ both got extremely overpaid. In the Wolves case, somebody else drafted Ant, Kat and Reid and the Wolves GM mortgaged all their assets for Gober who was a no show in the playoffs as usual.
Since Reed Shepard lit it up in Summer League (that was so boring!) there's been no drama, meltdowns, domestic violence incidents, mental health issues, injuries, dumb trades, or controversy. And people are complaining. Man, only in Houston.
Expecting just a morsal of news since the summer league ended months ago is considered complaining. Ok buddy.
Didn’t they have to sit Gobert or Townes at key moments? I don’t believe they played them both at the ends of most games. If you can’t play 2 of your highest paid players and supposed core pieces at the end of games then I’m not so sure it’s worth the money/cap devotion.
If I recall KAT was rushed back into the rotation in the playoffs - he was on a minutes restriction because he missed 20ish games at the end of the season with a torn meniscus.
