I believe there is an "open practice" this Saturday from 12 to 2. Can anyone confirm this? I know they sent something in the mail.

It was in the Houston Chronicle this past weekend, the above time and date is what it said.

Why does the open practice always happen during the Red River shootout? crap.

Well considering that it's been more like the Red River Massacre the past couple of years, the decision might be easier to make.

So can you just show up or do you need to get tickets somewhere?

You just show up. I went last year....pretty awesome. It's kinda short, but hey, free is free.

Yeah I went to the one last year and the year before that. I liked the year before last because they actually played 4 quarters. Last one was more like an exhibition.

Yeah, the last one was kinda lame. We waited for almost an hour and then got to see like 10 minutes of scrimmage. Then about 15 minutes of autographs and they told everyone it was over and to go home.

From what I understand, the marketing folks were really pissed about how it went down because it was supposed to last longer. Hopefully, this year it will improve.

I agree. Last year was lame.
The scrimmage was short ... the guys took turn fooling around, jacking up shots or walking in for dunks ... the rest stood and watched.

I know there is no way they would play all out and risk an injury so I'd rather watch a real practice to see the actual working inside a team.

I got Yao's autograph from last year's open practice, so I'm not complaining :D

That was cool. How did you manage that? He had hundreds of people surrounding him.

LegendZ3 was probably throwing those 'bows around in an effort to show Yao what he should be doing in games.

Those who have been: Do we need to arrive early? Will there be seating enough for everyone who shows up?

Well, 18,000 people aren't going to show up for a practice, but if you get there early, you'll get better seats. :)

My estimate is probably not far off: Maybe 6, 7 K fans were in their seats (maybe a thousand other were constantly moving about) and the place holds far more. We moved around as much as we wanted and checked out all kinds of seats from the lower level to the rafter.

    Just show up on time.
