Busts are lottery picks who suck. There isn't a PPG cutoff or MPG cutoff for competency like you're suggesting. Andrea Bargnani was a high scoring, floor spacing center getting 30+ minutes on .500 Toronto teams, but he still sucked and was a bust.
I think the term bust is the problem. Is Jalen a disappointment for a #2 pick? YES, emphatically. Even the Jalen people should admit this. But I don't think they will. Is Jalen a big disappointment for the #2 pick? I say yes, other people say no. He's not a bust to me but not a good #2 pick. Jalen fans can't admit he's not a good #2 pick now. These #2 picks in the last ten years I would have better than Jalen: Miller, Chet, Wiseman, Morant, Ball, Ingram. If Jalen was picked at #15 or #20 then I'd feel better. But when you get the #2 pick I need to see more.
If you stop lying, people will quit debunking your lies. Only you can stop the cycle you are causing.
It is exactly these type of posters who come here making absurd claims of Green being a "bust" that will more than likely post less if Green "shows up" next season or they will move goal posts. Remember there are multiple posters here in this very thread who posted the least amount during a 13-2 stretch for the team where one would think a fan of the team is going to be most hyped about as that is the best stretch the franchise had in 3 years. Just magically reduced their time on this board that month....came back posting at their regular frequency in April though. And that is the phenomenon I hope bears out of Green "shows up" next season. These posters will just post less here.
Any #2 overall pick that you aren't sure you even want to offer ANY contract to after 3 years in the league is a bust at least to that point. You want a #2 overall pick to at least be a top 5 player in their class... but if you don't even know if you want them on your team at all beyond the next season heading into their 4th season... that's a massive bust at least at that point.
It's more than just the Jalen war, it's the general lack of civility. Too many internet tough guys calling anyone who disagrees with them all kinda idiots, morons & dumbasses that don't know anything .... knowing damn well they wouldn't talk to anyone like that IRL. I try to avoid conversation with those who can't be civil. I won't quote them nor respond to them.
I think the lack of civility IMO is directly related to the lack of honesty and good faith argumentation. It's really hard to remain polite to those who are outright lying to your face just to push an obviously false narrative. That kind of disrespect breeds further disrespect and before you know it, civility is gone entirely. We just need people to stop lying.
There is a common poster on this board that creates a lack of civility. Whether it is the d&d, Texans, Rockets discussion the data is there. It's not that it would not exist without that poster of course. It would just be significantly less. If that poster were to get kicked off the forum entirely and not only the debate & discussion area. I promise you there will be a noticeable decrease.
Sure, but then what would you do with your life? You'd have nothing to constantly cry about and derail threads with. I'd never do that to you. It's important that you have SOME purpose.
It's not just one person, it's several. I don't get the need to "attack each other" rather than attack the post or idea .... That's the golden rule over on the Texans forum - attack the post, not the poster - with a zero tolerance policy. It's rare for a poster to resort to insults there.
I see some of you crazy people are on here still being hard headed. Never in bust history has a bust led a team on a winning streak of 10+ games. No matter the so-called strength of competition, every player on those courts were out there to win every game they played. A bust would not have done what he did. A bust would not, at this point, still be on par to be like a few of the greats in the game. Meaning with just 3-5 more points a game with 37 - 40% 3pt.. You all are just Jaters and want to label him in the worst category. Stop Jatin'!!!
That is not even a term, the national media did not catch on to it, nobody outside of this thread knows even what that is..... You folks are trying too hard. Those guys that really have a problem with Green, they are going to his IG page and not here. Nobody is associating Green with a bunch of zealots here.......just like nobody cares about people giving him a hard time. Folks vent about players and the NBA since the dawn of the NBA. Posters vent about posters. Therefore save yourself that time and post about A1 sauces and steaks! Get with the program!
The Jalen Haters have to get their punches in and kick him while he is a skinny kid. They know once he puts on some muscle, the sky's the limit. Guys like Anthony Edwards and Cam Whitmore are built like a chunk of iron and are in position to contribute at a higher rate on offense and more importantly defensively (switches) in the onset. Jalen has to prove them wrong even though his numbers are on par with the player many consider the #1 shooting guard of today, Kevin Booker and their first 3-year runs. It will all be decided this season and their opinion will be shown to be wrong. As many of us have known. Just let it play out,....and watch them eat crow
I don't think you know what a bust is dude. You're assuming everyone has the same definition as you when pretty much everyone defines a bust as a high pick who is out of the league or a journeyman at best. It's not someone who might get overpaid a ton by the open market. Also, you can't say someone is a bust and then keep a leg in the door "he might turn it around". Busts don't turn it around. Busts aren't still being touted as potential stars going into their 4th year. That's why your definition is causing issues. We have our HC designing our future offense around him and Sengun. Doesn't make any sense Green is a bust (the normal definition). If you go inside the rockets buildings, you'll find an organization that sees him as a core piece. So to think he's a bust is kind of unhinged from reality. Like, the actual real life coaching staff would look at you funny if you said that. I think that you think we - fans and coaching staff and peers and ex peers -don't believe what we believe. We actually believe in Green. After we see the numbers too. No one has key numbers I haven't seen. I hope you understand that. This is real.
