Yeah Brown’s comment makes a lot of sense now.

I saw Whitcomb play SS several games in the minors and while he didn’t look stellar he certainly didn’t look completely inept like he has today and the other times he’s played 3B for the Astros. Anyway, it makes sense now that they view him as a LF who can play the infield in a backup/emergency capacity.

There you go, at least someone here sees the true story of what Houston did today. Since they all got drunk last night and were not worth a crap today, they might as well have gone with the B team because they see no chance that the Mariners will be back in Houston next week with their starters intact ready to try to dismantle the Astros. Now, the Mariners will go home to sweep the Athletics. Not facing the Mariners in the wild card round will then require that KC and Detroit win 2 of their last 5 games. That will be no problem for the Tigers as their last 3 games are against the White Sox. However, KC, which can't really score lately will have serious difficulty winning two games, particularly since their last games are 3 against the Braves in Atlanta. Altho, they do have a shot at winning those 2 games before going to Georgia as they play the Nationals today and tomorrow. But, given last night's 1-0 victory, I would not be too optimistic about KC taking both those games before going to 'Lanta to lose 3 in a row to a motivated Braves squad.

As for the Twinkies, they are dead meat as they couldn't even beat Miami last night, altho they have some hope because they finish with 3 against Baltimore which has absolutely nothing to play for. If I were the Houston manager, I would have played to kick the Mariners out of the playoffs today so they can't come back and bite the division champs in their collective asses next week. Houston has serious difficulty in putting a hurt on the Mariner starters. For some reason, the anemic Mariner bats have no difficulty in putting a hurt on the Houston starters. Should have beaten the Mariners today and relaxed. Now, they will possibly have to sweat the return of the Mariners to Houston next week with revenge on their minds. It was a bad idea not to play hard today despite what you all say. Good luck, anyway.

This was a game that shows Houston doesn't have much killer instinct starting with their manager. Anytime a team has a chance to knock another team out of the playoffs, it should make the effort not screw around with a B team lineup. What the hell, they have an off day tomorrow and then the rest of the week is off since the Cleveland games mean nothing . They could have played hard today with a serious lineup and rested for the remainder of the week. Not Houston, no they gotta go the route of modern teams and take as much time off as possible for no good reason. You all just better hope that you aren't going to see Seattle again next week ready to do some serious ass kicking like they did this week in winning 2 out of 3.

Houston will get to face Miller again, a guy whom Altuve labeled as "unhittable". Thus, it wasn't very smart to concede today's game. In fact, it was downright stupid. They should have had cream soda instead of champagne and they should have played all the regular starters today except for Alvarez, who, I guess, is incapable of playing. What if he ain't ready next week when Seattle comes back to town ready to rumble. Look out Houston, if they come back here.

I am glad they won the division. But, let me give you a little info. That ain't the same as winning the World Series. They will be in serious trouble if Seattle comes back to town for the wild card round. Instead of killing off Seattle and their starting pitchers that the Astros can't touch themselves, they got drunk and gave the job to the Royals. That is like handing 3d base to Whitcomb. How'd that assignment work out? I wouldn't trust the Royals any more than Whitcomb, but I still hope they can get two wins out of the rest of the season. Personally, I do not want to see Seattle coming back to Houston, altho all you fans on this site don't seem to think that Seattle poses any kind of threat against your Astros. Taking 2 out of 3 in the wild card round will be just as possible as the 2 out of 3 they just took from the Astros over the last 3 days.

Even though I’m impressed we clinched - this team needs swagger, a “slit the throat” mentality and it’s time everyone comes together and we need to get back to where we were mid-summerish and were winning everything. I know this team can do it but it feels super casual and chill. If we draw the Tigers it’s gonna be a gut check right out of the gate. Let’s go Astros!

You all can't stand to look at anything I post that makes some sense because I knocked your little honey pies. But, here is a piece from a writer with whom you cannot hate the same hatred for that says everything I been tellin' you all lately. Read it, dogs!!!

Mariners Beat the AAA Astros, 8-1 (msn.com)

Here is an analogy you Texans should understand. If you got a rattler in your kitchen and you give him a whack and he slithers off into the living room, do you say never mind I'll get after that snake tomorrow. Hell no, you go get him now and wipe him from the planet. Why the Astros needed to rest their asses today against a wounded opponent to give him new life to come back from the living room and bite their ass when they least expect it is way beyond me. But, I guess modern baseball says get drunk and party and worry about that rattler tomorrow. Espada is a total moron not to get his team going to eliminate an opponent. I hope for your sake, the Astros' and mine that the Seattle Snake does not come back to Houston to sink its fangs into the dreamland Astros. Any general knows that you go get your enemy when he is down and don't give him a chance to rearm and come back to the battlefield another day. Good luck to you all.

You have severe mental issues. You sound like a condescending douche bag, probably from California or New York I'm guessing.

Seattle's magic blunder could be down to 1 if Detroit and KC hold on to their leads.

    You love to see it.

That's what we want to see. If the Astros couldn't see fit to go after their opponent, just let KC and Detroit do the work. It is fine with me as long as Seattle does not get a playoff spot.
