I don't know! The reasons seemed to have changed several times and I'm just confused on what the reason de jour is.

    sorry basso

Didn't mean to derail your thread. You can go back to posting funny pictures of Kerry.

Senate Bill Declares Bush No Longer Goofy

Washington, D.C. (SatireWire.com) — Continuing to display its new spirit of patriotism and bipartisanship, the United States Senate today overwhelmingly passed a resolution declaring that President George W. Bush is no longer a goof.

The resolution, which passed 92-5, officially proclaimed that President Bush is not the same person he was before the terrorist attacks, and that any future mispronunciations, fabricated verbiage, or ill-advised extemporaneous remarks uttered by the President should be interpreted as intentional, and possibly a sign of cleverly disguised genius.

In a press conference later in the day, the President thanked Senate leaders for not misunderestimating him.

The bill also stipulated that any American who continues to hint that President Bush may still be the same man is subject to both a fine and the immediate confiscation of his compu....

perfectly willing to discuss it, but it was my impression it'd been discussed ad nauseum many times before, and many simply do not but the reasons proffered. on the off chance you missed all that discussion, and are not just being disingenuous, i'll tell you what I believe we're fighting for, and why it's worth fighting.

we're fighting a global war against islamic fascism. afghanistan was the first front in that war, but invading afghanistan was merely a tactical strike in the overall war. after the attacks on 9/11, removing the taliban was an obvious move. however, the bush administration realized that to truly strike at the heart of international islamic fascism (IIF) we had to attack them in other theaters. the philipines is one, and i'm sure there are many others we don't know about. it's also worth noting that "attacking IIF doesn't always take the form of military action. this is a multi-front war fought with every means at our disposal. this means intelligence, diplomatic efforts (libya), law enforcement, freezing of assets, and where appropriate military force.

the bush administration made a strategic determination that Saddam had to be removed. They believed they had solid intelligence on WMD, and highlighted it as their principle arguement for the war. in hindsight, this seems to have been a mistake. not so much believing in the intelligence, but rather basing the arguement on WMD. I believe most americans would have bought the arguement saddam was a prime supporter of islamic terrorism, despite his secular tendancies.

removing saddam has had many side benefits, the liberation of the iraqi people, promotion of democracy in the middle east, etc. and these are worth fighting for as well. indeed, building a democratic state in the heart of the ME is one of the best ways to protect us from future attack. the democratic party's rather churlish response to the prospect of a free and democratic iRaq demonstates a moral bankruptcy that more than anything else that's been said this year has soured me on the prospect of a kerry presidency.

didn't know you felt that way about the war and wished you stated it this clear before earlier, i've read a lot of your "first pitch" threads and wouldn't say that you've recited this ad nauseum.

that said, I think you have a legit reason for agreeing for the war, not meaning that I agree with it, but I'm going to disagree that it's what we're fighting for. reason being is we've heard a hundred reasons for the war, such as wmds, al queda, dictatorships, human rights etc...

i'll agree that we should fight some type of war on "islamic fascism" but i still fail to see, and your post hasnt addressed it, how iraq symbolizes your reason.

im not a democrat, more conservative in this aspect, but I don't believe in the spread of democracy, especially in regions where it won't work, as demonstrated by our problems over there. sometimes, you have to let countries run their course and let their own specific character determine whats best for them. The ME is a very religious area and also has a high disparity between wealthy and poor, both aspects of which are not conducive to democracy.

    Cladwell
A little bunny in the meadow
Is nibbling grass without a care
He's so delightful as he hops for you
    You say, "Hi, bunny"
    And he stops for you
    You pull your trigger
    And he drops for you
    Goodbye, bunny-boo
    Hello, rabbit stew!

    Get me, boys?

    Staff
    You tell 'em, boss!

    Cladwell
    Don't be the bunny
    Don't be the stew
    Don't be the dinner
You have better things to do
    That's why it's funny
    So take your cue
    Don't be the bunny
    Don't be the bunny

    Hope
But Daddy, we're talking about people, not animals.

    Cladwell
    People are animals, Hope dear.

    Hope
Animals with huge incisors and big floppy feet?

    Cladwell
Look closely, you'll see them. I do. I see them...everywhere.

A little bunny at a toll booth
He needs a measly fifty cents
Our little bunny didn't plan ahead
Poor bunny simply hasn't got the bread
He begs for mercy, but gets jail instead
    Hasenpfeffer's in the air
As the bunny gets the chair!

    See the moral, people?

    Staff
    Clear as day, boss!

    Cladwell
    Don't be the bunny
    Don't be the dope
    Don't be the loser
You're much better than that, Hope!
    You're born to pow'r
    You're in the money!
    Advice to you

    You heard me.

    Hope
But Daddy, bunnies don't drive cars.

    Cladwell
    Oh, don't they?!

    Hope
No, actually, I don't think they do.

    Cladwell
Live long enough, Hope dear, you see...many things.

    Hope
Even a daughter doubting her father?

    Cladwell
A little bunny in a shoe box
He thinks he's found a brand new home
So snug and cozy on your closet floor
Now what's that bunny in my closet for?
With a mallet and some clippers
You find out: new bunny slippers!

    Grasp the message, staff?

No, the one who steps is you!

    Cladwell and Staff
    You're stepping up
    To where it's sunny
    Step on the poor!
    Don't be the bunny!
    Don't be the bunny!
    Wah, wah, wah, wah, wah!

Never heard that before... Every time I saw your sig I thought of the stuff we used to talk about in Political Science discussions about dictators and other leaders that instead of addressing issues would throw a scape goat out or a more palatable non issue so that people would have something sexier to dig there teeth into... rather than discussing real issues. We used to call it the "LOOK AT THE BUNNY!" game.

Wow the economy is in bad shape... I'm worried about losing my job and... :(

Look at the bunny! We cut your taxes!

This war in Iraq is getting me down, so many people dying over there and... :(

Look at the bunny! We're fighting terrorists by going to Iraq!

Weren't the terrorists in Afghanistan? I watched Howard Dean the other day and he was saying...

Look at the Bunny! Howard is a NUT! See how he screams?! YARRGGH!!!! He must be crazy!

OK, now that Howard is done, I think I'll vote for John Kerry, I like his plan about...

LOOK at the BUNNY! He lied about his medals 30 years ago!

Huh?, are you sure, these other vets that served on his boat said...

LOOK at the BUNNY! He's a flip flopper! He's changed his position on Iraq! FLIP FLOP!

Uhh, I don't think he did... in the Senate before the war he gave the President autho...

Look at the BUNNY! Doesn't Kerry look silly throwing a football?! Don't you want a President that can throw a ball?!
