I will say in his defense let's say the Yankees catcher immediately threw the ball to 3rd as soon as he caught the 3rd strike on Arozarena. There would have been no way for numbnuts to get back to 3rd base. Even if he bee lined it.

My point being in that situation maybe the 3rd base ump should immediately call timeout. Nobody wants to get hit with a bat.

Seemed like Julio was thanking God he was alive after the bat came at him before he realized he had to get back.

True, but the bat didn't break. It was thrown by a Mariner, so I think it's free game at that point. Another Mariner player shouldn't be allowed to impede with the field of play. All bets are off

JRod trying to invent a new baseball term....Foul Bat. No...I don't need to get back to the base if I'm dodging a foul bat. Oops.

Sorry, the runner should have been in the baseline, he was out either way.

Given the powers of the ump, they will intentionally missed the call. Leon Lett (vs Dolphins) you have company. A Little Leaguer would not make that blunder. Aaron Judge celebration on the field looked kind of underwhelming because he helped the Stros.

What are you talking about? Runner isn't allowed to run out of path towards a base when he is trying to avoid a tag. He can go full space cadet and pick daisies in RF as long as the other team is trying to tag him. As soon as he realized other team wanted to tag him out, he made a direct path to 3rd base.

You said Joe had no other options. That's what I was pushing back on, not that he chose Ort over King.

    You still believe that?

You and Htown take the cake when it comes to defending Joe.

I said he didn't have much choice, not no choice.

    1) The leverage guys all worked yesterday (and 2 of 3 games)
    2) Astros were losing
    3) Ort was most rested (much more than King)
    4) King is LHP (RH were due up)

I hardly defend Joe, nor do I particularly praise him.

It's always funny when posters say nothing until hindsight, as if whatever move they're critiquing was so obviously bad and they knew it beforehand - yet said nothing prior to the blowup.

You typically say something beforehand, or at least much more often than most posters... but not this time.

What if he's in the 3 spot?

    Is that bad?

I see you are now accustomed to the randomass logic of DD.

At least I haven't seen him try to tell us JV, after he said he should be "sent to the minors" 2 days ago, that he should learn to throw left-handed.

    So that's good...baby steps.
