Verlander just can't miss bats consistently anymore, he's done in that regard. Maybe he can still get outs as a crafty soft contact guy, but his old self is dead and gone
If they make the playoffs and insist JV stays in the rotation, hopefully as a split tandem and 3 innings is the limit.
Well I spoke too soon. Giving up these hits to an Angels team is not a good look for real teams in the playoffs.
JV didn't even look all that good in his last start either. Took 3 stellar outfield defensive plays to bail him out. Gamel broke his leg to save his ass.
I could honestly not be more proud of the season / effort / grind these guys are showing THIS year: Meyers, Singleton, Dubon, Kikuchi... this is how you show how you can continue to build a clubhouse... record shows: I wasn't one of the idiots who crapped on the deadline moves... give thanks we're not dealing with paying a bum 1B bat -- also give thanks that BJS who stepped up probably has one of the best comeback stories in the recent history of the game AND has great stats (I dont care what you think of his past... his blessing us with a gift of the present)... give thanks for MoDubs health... give thanks Jake finally got it and shows UP (no his ABs aren't consistently unbelievable, but this guy deserves a spot on this roster)-- and Yusei Kikuchi-- no words (whom after the '17 JV signing, may just be the absolute BEST midseason/deadline signing this club has EVER done).... and welcome to the party, J-Hey! New breed folks... one of the most diverse and talented teams in recent history (look how may SP's got shut down and have been shut down for a majority of the year!!!)... H-townMade and RelentlessAF... love this team. Bregman/Tucker or not, this team is in a good position to keep the rest of 'em hating us... and IDGAF. These mid-card non-splash signings are is what makes this ballclub what it is. Show em love. These are Spacemen. (How much yall willing to bet Elon may be one of the next owners' of this team...)
