Haven’t played fantasy basketball in probably 10 years, how do they do positions? Is it just random? Why would people like wemby and davis, who play as much center as jokic or embiid, not be centers? Why are jokic and embiid not PF?
Accurate as of right now. I would not be surprised to see him move up to the #2 spot within 2 years. He very well could do it this year.
Outplay Embiid or Jokic in the regular season? That's a tough one. Give him another couple of seasons, those two didn't fully dominate till their mid to late 20's. Can't wait to see Alpi a little stronger, a little wiser and with a better touch on his jumper. Also in an uptempo offense which will increase his assists. We need our shooters to step up and create more space for him next season. He's going to put on a hell of a show I can tell you that much.
I think you could make the case he will be number 1 next season. If you don’t count embiid or jokic as centers (same logic as not counting davis or wemby), there’s really nothing preventing him from being number 1.
I don't get that logic. Why would you discount two big men who are in the post and anchoring the defense more often than most? Yeah of course if you don't count them anything is possible.
Same reason you wouldn’t count other pure 5s as 5s. No reason to count jokic or joel if you don’t count wemby or AD.
I get the sarcasm, but if you look at the players in the NBA who do take are of themselves, they actually do nap regularly, most will nap before a game. The players who take care of themselves sleep 10-12 hours a day during the season, if they are training like this in the summer, I assume it is around the same amount of time. The players who do not take are of themselves sleep 8-9 hours or lesss, and are at the clubs a few hours. Sleeping is part of building the habits of an elite player.
Yeah but you have to draw the line somewhere, otherwise why count Sengun even. AD and Wemby can and do play PF. I guess that's the distinction.
Power Napping should not be news to elite athletes. Because athletes do scratch entertainment for sleep and rehabilitation during a lengthy season.
But they don’t. Wemby played 100% of his minutes at center. Davis last year did drop to 97% but year before he was 100%. What if the logic in counting them at PF? Sure at one point davis could play Pf when he was younger and thinner, but those days are over. I just don’t get it
This doesn't make sense. Zach Collins is a C and he played 69 games. Sochan didn't play PF while they were tanking hard early on. Surely Wemby didn't play 100% of his minutes at C. It's probably just about how we define it I guess. Anyway, would rather talk about Sengun. I do think that if we're including everyone, he has a great chance of being 3rd best next season which is huge for us.
Bigs that can play both C and PF are those who can shoot from outside and have decent mobility. Those who can't are "pure centers." I don't get why people are so obsessed with pure centers. They are "pure" not because they are good at it but because they are so limited they can't play any other way. Comparing Sengun with "pure centers" and say that he is one of the best makes no positive sense.
Sengun doesn't fit into either mold right now, not a pure center or an athletic center who can shoot 3s. So if you have to choose between the two of them, both looks bad. He is just another mold, that makes the comparison much harder.
