“Movies I’ll never watch again for $500, Alex!”

As far as rankings…I’ll rank them based on their impact on me and society when they premiered and I saw them in theaters originally.

Star Wars > Indy > Back to

People forget (or weren’t around for) just how insane reaction was to the first three SW films...peaking when "The Empire Strikes Back" came out. It was nuts!!!! The 2nd and 3rd films...only premieres I ever saw where there were multiple standing ovations in a movie theater when the main characters first appeared on screen. Never seen repeated. The original "Star Wars" was a slow burn-in because noone ever heard of it but, once it caught on and word of mouth took off, it was fire in a bottle. Indy premieres were pretty nuts, too. But, SW reigned supreme.

has to be star wars...it had the most cultural impact.

if i had to watch any three in 2024 it would probably be back to the future though.

none of those franchises were perfect...each of the three had two great movies and one that was still good, but not quite up to par of the other two. return of the jedi, temple of doom and BTTF 2. ROTJ might be the biggest drop-off in quality from their franchise.

BTTF 3 is the best 3rd installment of the trilogy, imo. is BTTF 3 a western? i dont ever see it listed when they make top 50 westerns of all time lists, but it would be in mine...and im a huge fan of westerns.

Most of that was due to the teddy bear controversy. That ruined it for some people. lol

the 20 minute ewok sex scene in the directors cut was certainly an odd choice.

Right on. I was an early Star Wars "burn," I guess. I went to the movies a lot and caught the Star Wars trailer. Ended up seeing the first showing the day it came out, went home and told my girlfriend, "You've got to see this!" Saw it with her the next day. It was/still is mind blowing for a SF fan. I wish Lucas had left them alone, though.

Loved Raiders of the Lost Ark. Likely have seen it half a dozen times over the years, if not more. Needless to say, I'm a big Harrison Ford fan. Blade Runner came out the next year and he didn't disappoint.

This. IMO, 3 gets a bad rap because it's not as good as the first 2...but on it's own, it's a great movie

I wouldn't say "great", but it doesn't deserve all the hate it gets.

Have you watched the recut "Death of Michael Corleone" version? It's an improvement.

I have not. Need to see that and the series they did about the making of the original.

Maybe "great" is strong because Sofia Coppola is such a bad actress...great director, though.

The series is good and absolutely worth a watch, and from everything I read afterwards...pretty damn accurate

It will also absolutely make you look up stories about Bob Evans (but don't do it until after you've seen it)
