Is there going to be any Rocket games this year on TV? At the mommet I have no TV programing other than the local news from Rabbit ears. I'm thinking of getting Cox Cable, Derect TV, or Dish. Which will be better for Rockets games? Thanks.
League Pass would be your only way I think... You'll need at least basic cable to grab national games but if you want to see every game League Pass will do it On whether to get Cable, DTV, or Dish it depends on exactly how much your willing to spend, I don't know if Cox has league pass or not maybe someone can verify that but I know DTV and Dish do
We had problems with Cox getting any answers about this. I have since dropped Cox and now have Dish satelllite. I'm waiting to see what will be different.
The service isn't particularly bad. They just refuse to put on the Rockets games and won't give a straight answer about it.
If you're talking about the service of Dish, I've been completely satisfied with it. You got to go with DVR...it totally changes the way you watch sports. The satellite signal doesn't go out NEAR the amount cable does. We've had it for close to a year now, and I think the signal got lost maybe 2 times, and it wasn't for long. Completely satisfied.
Class of 04 here, what I did was sign up for DirectTV and asked if I was able to get the local channels(EXTRA $) from Houston, being the closest big city and she said "YES".... So I set up the dish as normal and I got TV51 for all the Rockets games without having to buy the NBA pass...... I had it that way for about 4 years... I was a R.A. at the Tower and had to run cable from roof of the Tower all the way down to my room on the 3rd floor this past year....it was a BIT$H!!! I worked for me hope that helps..
In the past, COX has picked up a number of the games that are shown on the local Houston Ch.55, on CH.15 on COX MEDIA CABLE. They recently changed the channel to Ch.70 on COX MEDIA. It's the same channel that has been carrying the Astros games.
Can't say I have really had my cable signal go out. I mean,....it's connected through a cable. Nothing but a power outage would mess up my cable connection.
Cox does not offer League Pass in Bryan/College Station. If you want League Pass, you have to get dish.
what kind of rocket fans are you guys? 27 games on ESPN, TNT and ABC and 6 games on NBA.comTV is you got it.
I purchased the local package of Houston from Dish last year. But they later changed my programming to WACO and explained that College station was changed to the Waco market, so I no longer had the right to subscribe to the Houston local channels. I don't know whether it's true or not. Anyway, they denied my repuest to give me channel 51. Which is sad. So, big YMMV.
You're f'n kidding me. After a hiatus, I'm back here in BCS for a 6th year (woohoo, i still have friends around...in grad school, and the siblings of old friends). I have DTV and so do my neighbors. They DON'T offer Houston local channels. You got lucky. See here: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/LocalChannelsAction.do#now Anyhow, my apartment complex is f'd up because we can't get cable and local channels are supposed to be "coming in 2004" and yet we still aren't allowed. My neighbors got NFL Sunday Ticket, but they can't get local games so they're pissed. If you go to channel 216 on DirecTV, you can order the 2004-05 NBA League Pass early bird special for $169 (20 bucks savings). They'll include NBA TV too. So that would get you all the Rockets games except for those on ESPN, TNT/TBS, and ABC. I can't even get ABC because rabbit ears only picks up CBS in College Station (you need Cox Cable to get NBC from Waco and Fox from somewhere I forgot), but I can go to a bar or something. I also lived in UTower, back in 2000 and liked it because it had UPN 20 from Houston on it's Satellite, back when the Rocks were on there. And then I had friends in the outhouses by Applebees and they had FSSW for home games. Life was good.
I don't know your financial situation, but give them a billing address in Houston and they have to give you those stations. Pay in advance if you don't have a friend in Houston.
I guess it depends on what service you are using....I had Direct for ages and I used to lose my signal everytime it rained...and that was after it had been adjusted to the best angle and everything. I have had TW cable for two years now...and havent lost the signal ONCE.....not even for a moment. and I also have a DVR...you are totally correct abotu that...how did I ever get along without it? btw...another option for you guys....if you have highspeed...you could always download the torrent for it..it isnt realtime...but at least you get to see it.
