Reggaeton star Nicky Jam seems to be rolling back his support for Donald Trump after the Republican nominee mistakenly introduced him as a “hot” woman at a Las Vegas rally over the weekend.

Jam initially made light of the gaffe in an Instagram post—its caption referred to himself, in Spanish, as a “hot woman,” accompanied by no fewer than 22 crying-laughing emojis. But, as of Sunday night, the post had been deleted. The comment section on his most recent post before it, which was unrelated to Trump, was also deactivated.

Jam’s Trump endorsement, amplified by the buzz surrounding the awkwardly inaccurate rally introduction, has made him the subject of relentless criticism—and mockery—across the internet.

“Trump thought you were a girl! He didn’t even take the time to look you up, and you’re here kissing his toes,” reads a comment by @nataliaalcazar91, with nearly 8,000 likes. Others speculated in comments that the former president confused Jam with the rapper Nicki Minaj, punctuated by laughing emojis.

Jam has faced more backlash beyond jokes from faceless internet trolls. Manà, a Mexican rock band, scrubbed their collab with Jam, “De Pies a Cabeza,” from streaming services on Sunday. They also released a statement condemning the Trump endorsement.

“Maná doesn’t work with racists,” read an Instagram post from the band’s official account.

The former US President announced the endorsement of the Latin music singer on Friday night (13 September), asking the crowd: “Do you know Nicky? She’s hot!”

Trump continued: “Where’s Nicky? Where’s Nicky? Thank you, Nicky. Great to be having you here.”

Jam, who was wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, emerged from the crowd onto the stage and shook Trump’s hand.

on your hands and knees for someone who won’t even take 2 seconds to find out who u are before u go onstage and endorse him publicly…How do u have no shame or self-respect?

This is hilarious. One, there's no court proceeding, so no basis for anyone to be held to account for perjury. Two, he alleges there were topics ABC was not allowed to ask about and that ABC was to do live fact-checking, but we already know that the ground rules of the debate were negotiated by the two campaigns and ABC. There is nothing illegal about any of that, nor does it constitute "election interference." Presuming this 'whistleblower' is even real, he's a crank; and Kyle Becker and Libs of TikTok are all idiots -- or worse, they think you and I are idiots.

I'm sure had Trump known the questions that would have stopped him from talking about Hatians eating dogs and cats.

Honestly, if Trump had the power to do so I could see him removing licensing from all American National broadcasting stations that don't strictly follow his messaging. Propaganda, Lies, and Deception, and nothing but praises of him. It would be like Truth Social (anything but truth) American broadcasting.

That is so hilarious and amazing that it somehow came relevant again. Though Ben Stein was a die hard conservative Republican.

OK, this belongs in the Trump Dementia thread. His brain is cognitively declining before our eyes. He does this kind of stuff so much it can't be ignored anymore. Unfit to serve.

No surprise really, considering Trump believes more in conspiracy theories, and quack doctor cures than science.

Scientific American makes second-ever endorsement, backs Kamala Harris

This is only the second time in the magazine's 179-year history that it has made an endorsement in a presidential race.

Harris "offers the country better prospects, relying on science, solid evidence and the willingness to learn from experience," the magazine's editors wrote.

"She pushes policies that boost good jobs nationwide by embracing technology and clean energy. She supports education, public health and reproductive rights" and "treats the climate crisis as the emergency it is."

Trump, they added, also has a "disastrous" record from his term in office.
