I am a little surprised it came this early but if his team really was "shocked", they haven't been watching what everyone else has. I have no clue if its his size, his heart or what but he looks nothing like an NFL QB1 up to this point................I wonder what his development would have looked like under the Texans, thanks goodness we did not draft him and trust me, I was 100% on the Bryce Young hype train..........................Thank you, Lovie, for not winning in Indy, I take back everything bad I said about you.........................well, at least some of the bad things
Where did the 'super processor' description come from? and was it from the same person who leaked CJ's S2 score.
It was an attempt to make up for his terrible athletic markers. Skipping the combine didnt help him at all and now I think he was just securing his 38Ms which is a life changing haul for an NFL bust.
Got to say that despite how much money he has made/will make, I feel bad for Bryce Young. The guy loves football and while I believe that he is culpable for his lack of progression, I also believe he has been set up for failure. The Panthers do not have a lot of weapons, nor do they have a decent offensive line to keep him upright long enough to get a play going. Let's see how Dalton does in taking the snaps with the same players. As a veteran with playoff experience, I believe he will fare better than Young, however, if he struggles or has some of the same issues, then we'll know how much of the issue is Bryce Young vs. the rest of the team. As much as Canales says that Bryce is his QB, I have a hard time believing that Canales would have wanted to pick Bryce as his franchise QB in the draft. That's the problem with having a new regime come in after making a selection of that magnitude with the previous regime. Does Young even fit Canales' scheme? Apparently offseason workouts, camp and other practices weren't effective enough to have whatever adjustments were made transition to the playing field. Have to say, I'm glad it's not our problem here in Houston, but I definitely feel sympathy for Bryce Young and Panthers' fans.
Bryce needs to get traded to another team. Rams should take a look at him and see if McVay can work his magic.
If skipping the combine helped him secure $38 million in guaranteed money, it was the right decision. The combine only affects a player's draft position, not their development.
That’s the thought I was having fun with. Panthers' Coach Reich wanted CJ, but the Panthers owner and his wife got involved and were swayed by Bryce’s "super-processor." As the draft approached, the decision was solidified by CJ's low S2 score
I'm genuinely curious why this thread is still going on and the Deshaun Watson thread is closed. Deshaun being traded is the biggest reason the Texans are where they are. Deshaun the perv is also far more entertaining.
Maybe they will swap Bryce and a pick for Davis Mills? Then we rehab his value and Slowick takes him with him to his new team via trade.
Dalton will definitely look better. One thing I've learned following the Texans is bad QBs are just bad. People like to blame the lack of weapons or Oline but usually a QB makes their team look better. Even an average one. You have a guy overthrowing WRs, holding the ball too much, just not playing well, it makes the entire offense look bad. With that said, don't feel bad for Bryce, being a #1 pick means he's going to get at least another shot, if not two. I see some team taking a flyer on him, learning behind someone, then hopefully he'll play better. Lots of teams with stop gap QBs. I feel like right now the perfect place for him would have been Seattle with Pete Carrol who I remember now was forced out as head coach, that would have been absolutely perfect for him. There are still so many teams though with stop-gaps at QB. Jets, learn behind Rodgers. Raiders who have Minshew right now. The Giants who have to be desperate at that spot. Maybe even the Browns lol, still, he should get another shot or two. It wouldn't be unheard of if he carved out a career as a starting QB or a journeyman type. I don't think Bryce will ever be an amazing elite QB but in the right offense, with the right team, he could probably maximize his value. Kind of like Tua, who is nowhere near elite but his offense is so tailored to his strengths that they get the most out of him.
We all thought he was going to be this "Drew Brees" undersized and yet successful type or at least a majority of us including me- @deb4rockets called it tho that I recall ... I thought Bryce had the intelligence and everything that was needed to overcome his shortcoming guess is the best way to put it.,.. I thought CJ while promising was too stiff in the pocket, too slow etc not as QB mental savvy as Bryce ,... Thank goodness It worked out the way it should have
