Why is your heritage being discussed on a message board?

Also - most German’s in the 1930’s and 1940’s were not supporters of Hitler and most young men were forced to fight for Germany.

I guess people like to find ways to attack those by whom they feel annoyed. I get it, from a psychological perspective. I'm not a saint, I called people names, too, etc.

My point is that the same people who say these things think of themselves as morally superior. They think they are "the good ones". They think Trump is Hitler, they think that something must be seriously wrong with people who do not share their opinions, they get very angry, sometimes hateful.

Are people who say things like that (and there are countless other examples) really "better" than those they point fingers at?

Shouldn't your thread title be. Person who thinks they are virtuous and morally superior tells everyone that "leftists" think they are virtuous and morally superior.

Talk about living rent free in someone's head.

Most young German men probably had a affinity towards the Nazi party as it represented the same type of machismo culture that the modern maga movement represents.

There is a wide gradient between "Nazi party member" and "Nazis are at least better than the commies" level of support.

And when it comes to ATW, if he hypnotically was a young male in 1920s Germany and hypothetically the modern Internet existed back then, he'd be a product of his time and instead of spamming 40 imbedded links about Muslims doing or saying bad things he'd spam 40 imbedded links about Jews doing or saying bad things.

From Hatians to trans people ATW latches on to the current immigrant or minority group the right wing movement is targeting and therefore it's very reasonable to assume that given the background noise of rampant anti-semtisim in 1920s and 1830s Germany he'd have his ire towards the Jews because that was the target of most hate rhetoric back then instead of Muslims today in Europe.

This post is ambiguous. There is a huge difference between being a supporter and picking between then 'lesser of two evils'. The latter is how we end up with poor leaders, as we are experience here over the last 3 elections.
While conscription was used in Nazi Germany, make no mistake about it, there was significant support to fight the war. As any great event in history, its always easy to rewrite history with 20-20 hindsight. Germans were not lining up to go conquer all of Europe and exterminate the jews, but they certainly wanted to escape the economic depression they had been living in. Taking back the Sudetenland was very popular. And just as we now experience mass propaganda from both of our political parties, they too were easily led down a bad path.

As the title of the thread suggests, anyone subscribing to group think always believes they are morally superior. And yes, proudly voting for either party is complete group think and is highly toxic.

Idk about all that. By '38-39 he had most of the support. After they've defeated France easily, he had the full support.

There's no way of telling for sure of course, but you can't go by the numbers in '33. Alot happened in the next 5+ years after that, I mean he had their economy going, they weren't poor anymore. That alone would swing lotta of people to his side.

ALL Europeans are nationalists, its rooted deep into their conscious. So it makes sense that he doesn't like "others" in Germany. Its weird to you because you're looking at it from an American perspective.

Ya there were definitely strong anti-fascists elements i in 1920s and 1930s Germany. Again, hypothetically you wouldn't be one of those people in those movements.

It is not healthy to think about people, let alone vaguely, ill-defined groups of people, on an internet message board this much.

No to what? I'm assuming the "others" part.

The first part- what about the German labor laws where its stated "a German citizen must be preferred first when recruiting".

Are you upset people are starting to talk about the German problem. They killed millions of Jews and continue to spread hate. One drop is all it takes. Send them back to where they belong. America First.

In comparison to people like @AroundTheWorld and @basso, who cheer on the demonization of vulnerable communities, leading to an outbreak of terror threats against schools, hospitals, and other locations, it is absurdly easy to be morally superior.
