Most Blacks don't deal with this as we are overwhelmingly Democrat.

I'm Democrat as well but I was favorable towards Trump as a candidate. I thought the media was rooting against him too much and i was not happy with how Democrats really pushed Mrs Clinton. Also thought things like the "grab em" recording were ridiculously overblown as it was obvious stupid locker room banter but I digress.

I would make Facebook posts favorable towards him as I really thought he would win and some family I could tell were like wtf is your problem.

I see some of those posts now when FB does the memories and I m like it did look like I was a supporter but it's all good with the family

Another observation I have noticed is that the political divide is very much breaking down gender lines in 2024.

I cannot express the level of disgust that female moderate women, across all ethnic and religious groups - have for Donald Trump and JD Vance has made it worse. Many women that voted for Bush will not vote for Trump. If Trump loses - this will be why.

Now - by the same token, the rhetoric from Trump and his social media supporters has fired up men, especially single and younger men to vote for him when they wouldn’t have been politically involved otherwise.

I have spoken politics with friends of mine that are women- and they have voted Republican often in the past and the typical interaction is that their husbands are very vocal supporters of Trump and the wives typically do what it takes to avoid the discussion of Trump and quietly plan to vote for Harris because Trump is such a misogynist.

What's funny is that by your own math, the majority of moderates support Harris.

Nope, I'd just rather not start to dislike the people I care about. I'm talking about the Fox News types. I am surrounded by many.

    It's not that complicated.

There's lots of other things to talk about.

That's a hard unfriend on social media if you start posting Trump stuff.

I ran a pickleball tournament for a friends republican political campaign fundraiser.

2 of my 5 closest friends are republicans.

My parents and sister are republicans.

Its not hard. Just be an adult.

The ones who still have brains are no problem to talk to, Republican/Democrat/whatever. It's the brainwashed ones that you have to ignore/avoid.

My household is a mixed bag, I’m always on the right of politics, wife is usually mostly right but doesn’t like trump (probably the moderate of the 4 of us) youngest daughter is like me, oldest daughter is left all the way… somehow incredibly we make it work, and we definitely love each other no matter

Loving your own family is easy. Empathy for immigrants being targets of directed hate by a presidential candidate is hard. You don't succeed in the hard part. Loving a daughter is easy. It should be easy. It's the easiest thing in the world to do.

I appreciate the considerate words however, I do have empathy for immigrants, but I want there to be a correct way of coming into this country… my wife was an immigrant (Peruvian) couldn’t speak English until the age of 13 and then got here the right way.. got her four year degree, got her masters degree eventually ,..didn’t have any help along the way to pay for it, and literally worked her way through school.

Now she is a regional HR director for a very large company - plus has a craft business on the side (because she secretly wants to make more money than me I think  )

Desiring "the correct way" isn't worth fascist blood libel rhetoric towards immigrants like the GOP presidential candidate.

Any person with empathy that extends beyond their immediate sphere of people they naturally ought to love like their children would never want people who call avacado pickers and factory meat packers who are paid below minimum wage as an invasion force anywhere close to power.

You hate immigrants enough to elect the party that makes up bat **** crazy stuff about immigrants to role hatred up for them. So your support in Trump expresses a void in empathy that extends beyond people you naturally should have empathy for like your family and friends.

It's a bit harder in person when you don't have social media

I've had the conversation once with family. Now we just don't discuss politics. Simple.

Wood crafts - she has a rabbit laser cutting machine (wood is typically the 1/4 inch luan plywood boards at Home Depot) and tried to get me into it, but I have no interest, but she does painting with it and builds these great designs and just makes a lot of really nice stuff,... At first it was more of a hobby, but she's literally selling this stuff pretty well

    https://www.rabbitlaserusa.com/

The owner of this company will actually come down with the product and give a quick run down on operation when you purchase - You have to run the files from a computer and then the machine does the rest on the precision cuts - It certainly fascinating, but definitely not for me

The laser machines are not cheap typically getting close to $10,000 unfortunately

I have noticed that almost all the leftists here feel like they are "the good ones" in their family. Almost all of y'all leftists seem to have people in your family you consider absolutely wrong on politics, and you look down on them.

Are there any leftists here who do NOT have that in their family? Like, a family where everyone is leftist?

From what you described, they are the ones who avoid talking about politics when you are around - at least as much as the other way around?
