You have to know a lot about basketball to have a successful 27 year career as a half blind coach and GM. RIP CD!
This is truly a dark day in Houston Rockets History. RIP Legend! Thank you for the memories and your dedication to the organization and the city of Houston. You will be missed.
CD, what a legend. Sincere condolences to his family and colleagues. Fortunately, the organization is in good hands under the leadership of his son, DVD.
Had the pleasure of hearing him speak in person at an event. What an engaging speaker he was, may he rest in peace.
Damn. Rip to an absolute legend. We don't win those two titles without him. What a genuine and good dude by all accounts.
No one that was aware of his health issues for nearly 40 years would have thought he would make it past 70 - and he made it to almost 90. He was going to be the Rockets head coach - not Rudy T before health issues got in the way. He was so great, Rudy T and he worked well together. No ego there at all. He also was really good to Baylor alumni that were wanting to break into the basketball market as a job - especially women. His treatment of women was really well ahead of it's time - the rare guy that wasn't a jerk to women 20-40 years ago.
Wow. My condolences to his wife Sharon and his family.. As a recent widow, the next few months will be hard. Take it one day at a time and remember the good times you share and how lucky you were to share your life with him. They are not gone, they are waiting till you join them again.
