That's my point. BOTH columns matter "Winning out" is not something that typically happens. Team A is relying on Team B to lose, and Team B is relying on winning because Team A already did.
Of course both columns matter, if you don't add to one column, you are adding to the other. But the bottom line is if you have fewer losses than another team you don't have to worry about them, just yourself. If you have more losses than another team, you can not win the division over them unless they lose, regardless of your own record. If you are 85-70 and another team is 50-69 you can't win the division if they win out, even if you win out also.
Would you rather be 85-70 or 50-69 ?? My point again is, the entire "loss column" theory is overblown because both columns matter.
Which you would rather be is completely a personal option, and not relevant. This is strictly math. Black and white. Can you win the division without help, or do you need another team to lose. We can agree to disagree on how "overblown" that is.
Which would you rather be? 85-70 or 59-69 What's your personal opinion? Nevermind... we both know the answer and 99.99% or sports would agree. You can disagree whether it's overblown, but that doesn't mean you're correct. Reason being: reality. The whole "just win out" theory is a weak position to be in. 7 game series... would you rather be up 3-1 or down 3-1.... up 3-0 or down 3-0 ?? Never mind
I guess, lol. Astros can't take care of their business so yay for other teams doing it for us. Frustrating.
Astros have 18 games left. Both the Mariners and Rangers have 17 games left. The most games the Mariners can win is 90, but they won the season series with the Astros. So magic number is 14 games. Against the Rangers, the Magic number for them to get eliminated is 10.
"Battle" is the key word. The Astros look "tired." Season weary. At this point, who has the most left. I remember running track. Can you "kick it up" as you near the finish line?
