A clock is always dead after a timeout, Indy called one to argue. I can't find any reason other than improper implementation of the rules that the clock was running. Doesn't completely absolve DeMeco, but if he had a quick hitter to the outside they should have had the chance to try it.
That was a straight up rig job. 1. The reviewed the play after another play was ran. 2. They confirmed the catch, clock should have been set to when the catch was made and runner was down 3. They did set at 15 at first, then colts call a timeout and colts complain and the reset to 5 seconds (the time on the clock after the spike was made) 4. Then they run the clock from 5 seconds Let me reiterate, Colts called a timeout and they still ran the clock. Absolutely rig job
they had put 15 seconds so they had send different formation and then Indy called timeout. Then texans didn’t change formation and clock started to run.
Yep, so the Texans were screwed either way. It was an odd situation and it was all because of the refs screw up.
Ryans needs to be more vocal towards the refs, especially since the Colts called a timeout. Regardless, don’t be running a play with 5 seconds left! Spike it and kick a fog.
Broadcast crew even said "Steichen just called the timeout to talk to the ref longer." In any case having the fg unit ready would have just been for optics
