Is Andre Drummond a joke, just to check if we’re paying attention … or maybe a ploy to increase tweet engagement
It's probably a per minute thing and no minimum possessions? Could have gotten lucky on a tiny sample.
It says 1000 minute minimum - looks like he ended up with about 1300 minutes. Not sure how he is so high on the list but I suppose he used to be a DPOY candidate so he must be bringing something to still be getting minutes this late into his career at a size that I'll just be charitable and say probably exceeds his 'ideal weight'. Needless to say, he won't be on a Heat roster anytime soon with Pat Riley's body fat percentage maximums.
I thought similar about THT - does he have faster hands than we realized but now that he isn't a Laker, no one is hyping him up anymore so it all falls under the radar? I still chuckle at all the hypothetical trades Lakers fans thought they could make during the THT era.
If you average 2.0 steals per game, you are elite. But this post limits it to guarding the ball handler. That should lower the number even further. Drummond was one of the better stealers at his peak. But ball handling in the low post rarely happens nowadays. I wonder how they define ball handler.
Tari doesn't even pick pocket, sometimes he just goes and rob you of the ball in your face on the perimeter with his long arms
Minimum 1000 minutes .... not really a small sample size. Dude does get a lot of steals / deflections against bigs in the post. He's very disruptive. Just not always healthy ....
Sounds like this requires a blood/DNA test. lol. Anybody know what this stat actually captures other than "defensive rebounding talent"?
Here is their explanation: https://www.bball-index.com/glossary/ Now I'm wondering how "position to rebound" and "contested situations" are defined. Distance traveled to the rebound? Proximity to the nearest offensive/defensive player? Number of players around the rebound?
It's all a mystery, but ... numbers. Sounds like another one of those proprietary stats we're just supposed to agree with without understanding exactly how it's being arrived at. Dunno.
I’ve been diving through random league pass rockets games all week and the more I watch Amen, the more I think he is maybe the most valuable guy on this whole roster…and it’s weird because he doesn’t seem like a franchise player necessarily but he has this ability to impact the game from any position all game and the fact he was doing that as a rookie just based on instinct and athleticism was powerful. In a league full of gifted players - he somehow managed to seem elite with those gifts…super excited to see how he looks this year with hopefully A LOT more minutes.
