Well Texas was an independent country for 10 years before they've joined the Union. It was the only state that had a right to be independent again (if the people wanted); but after the Civil war that was taken away.
Israel is allowed to defend itself against Islamist terrorism. If Mexico were to try 1/1000th of the terrorism Islamists have been influcting upon Israel, the USA would not have been nearly as restrained as Israel has been.

I guess you and exiled never studied too much Texas & Mexican history in Canada and Turkey. Mexico did not become a country until 1821. It claimed ownership of the territory of Texas for a whopping 15 years before the Texian Army (which was not part of the U.S., but were Mexican citizens) defeated the Mexican Army in 1836 and gained independence. Anglos, Apaches (among other tribes) and plenty of mestizos fought against the Mexican Army. Mexico claimed ownership of present day NM, AZ, CO, UT, NV, CA for about 26 years from 1821-1847 before Mexico signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo relinquishing all claims to Texas and ceding the aforementioned territory to the U.S. for $15 Million in compensation while the U.S. agreed to pay debts owed to American citizens by the Mexican government. Mexicans in areas annexed by the U.S. could relocate within Mexico's new boundaries or receive American citizenship and full civil rights.
