Hey everyone, After spending a little more than 23 years here on the forums, I've decided it's time for me to step away. I've enjoyed the countless debates, insights, and camaraderie shared among all of us passionate Rockets fans. Whether we were celebrating big wins or lamenting tough losses, this community has been a great place to connect with others who share the same love for the game and our team. I know the saying goes, "This is not an airport, no need to announce your departure," but I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to those of you who made this space special. I've learned a lot, laughed a lot, and even had my fair share of heated discussions. It’s been fun! To all the friends and acquaintances I’ve made here, thank you for the great conversations and for sharing your perspectives. I hope the Rockets continue to grow and reach new heights, and I’ll be cheering them on from a distance. Wishing you all the best and hoping this community continues to thrive. Keep supporting the Rockets and keep the discussions lively. Who knows, maybe I’ll pop back in sometime down the line. Take care and go Rockets! Best, Ubiquitin
Thanks and you will be missed. I understand the feeling of wanting to step away from the board and I myself have tried to limit my time on here. I’ve most of all tried to keep posting here or on any other social media secondary to things like taking care of family, job, coaching, playing music, and other actual physical interactions. This place though is a good time waster and have learned some actual stuff here. Most important for me as someone who hasn’t lived in Houston or Texas for decades it helps me still feel in touch with Houston, Texas. As for this specific sub forum it helps me get out some of my own pent up thoughts on important issues. And while I have little illusions that major change can come out of this site good things actually have happened because of this site. Through this site I was able to get a group to U of MN architecture students to help rebuild houses in Surfside after Hurricane Ike. Was able to get donated resources from MN to Houston after Harvey and raise funds to help rebuild Minneapolis after the George Floyd Riots. I will be forever grateful and proud to be a Clutchfan because of those.
I appreciate you saying farewell and not just ghosting. Lots of posters disappear and you wonder what happened. The bbs will be the poorer for it, but I hope it's a good change for you.
You’ve been an asset to the BBS, @Ubiquitin, and more to the point, an enjoyable read. I hope that with time away you decide to return. You’ll be missed.
I sometimes wonder if we should all just do what you did. Too much toxic discourse recently and ya I'm sure I'm part of the problem also. But I think all of us could take a break from the poo flinging for some basic mental health. Like whenever I get the urge to come here I should consider just stepping outside for a walk or something. Farewell. You were a respectable poster. But obviously sometimes in the future you come back at least to check in.
Popping in from my hiatus to say hi on this monumental day. It has already been a few months since I flung poo with you all. Not surprised that this place is a chaotic as ever. But the Rockets are 4-3 which is nice. Either way, it is shaping to be a historic day of voting. I hope everyone has the chance to vote for their preferred candidate and I pray that the election aftermath is not a repeat of 2020. Until next time.
