Because: 1) The OF has been very weak offensively 2) 3 infield positions are set everyday 3) Singleton is better than him vs RHP which is 70% of games. 4) He has been among the 9 best position players on this team most of the season. 5) He is much improved this year in the OF and is now better than average.
If I woke up out of a coma and you told me Meyers hit cleanup multiple times and we didn’t get anything from Javier, Urquidy, LMJ, Garcia and JV so far this season because of injuries, I would assume we would be closer to last than first in the division.
He’s been the best defensive OF we have other than Meyers. 92nd percentile in OAA and his arm actually makes runners think before taking the extra 90 even though he isn’t that accurate with it.
