5 games back without anymore h2h matchups is a tall ask. I'd be happy with a bye. But regardless, we really just need Tucker and no new major injuries.
I know it's late to bring this up but what the hell was up with Meyers at-bat with 2 runners in scoring position. He didn't look like he was even eyeing the ball. Just swung wildly at 3 balls not close to the strike zone.
I am confused - your graphic is “1st round bye” and first you said 2 back and then you said 5 back. The Astros are 4 back of Cleveland, they have the tie breaker, and they play Cleveland twice to finish the season. Are you tracking something different than the bye? Getting the 2 seed is absolutely possible - we cannot say the division is still in play for Seattle but it’s too tough to catch Cleveland - the gaps are the same
Okay, gotcha.... Fortunately we have a h2h vs them to end the season. Stros need 2 more wins vs KC and handle business in the season finale. ETA- Wait... 1st round = avoiding the WC round. The point was avoiding the extra series. Astros are 2.5 behind.
Okay, so it's similar silly rules like the NBA and NFL where teams with better records are deemed "lesser than" than division winners. Astros (and Twins) capitalized from it last year, same way the Texans did for almost every playoff win because they played at home, even against teams with better records. Franchise still has yet to win a playoff game on the road. The Rockets capitalized (although more justified due to same record) in 2015 vs the Clippers -- same record, but Rockets won their division, so they had HCA.
What a wild little beer/juice league game. Errors galore and umps trying to affect the result again. Diaz trying to hit for (agree he's been wonderful and we would be out of the race without him....but please little patience here and there...pitchers already know he's dangerous) doubleplay and Kansas pitcher fking it up . -The defense has to improve. Like NOW. Somebody needs to shake Pena in the clubhouse. Walking like biggest cat in the jungle and nodding like cracked up Soto in the box ain't doing it. -Just wonderful that we took the lead and not just tied the game. Prevented Joe from using Hader for 3,5 innings of non save situation. -Would be great if Altuve got going right about now. Please. -Abreu has the vibe now that he will give runs no matter what or where he pitches. Sit him couple of days atleast and calm him down and stop the curse he's under now. It just is't happening. -Great that Heyward got couple of rbi's right from the start. Kinda hope that they would have seen earlier how lost Chas is and send him down much earlier. He would have had more time to get right and maybe contribute in 2024. Now you just can't bring him up anymore, not without injuries. -Was moaning beforehand yesterday (Phillies game topic)that I got bad heeby jeebys league and as extension umps still have some time to fk us some way. Suspensions, calls... I did't mention or even think about it but ofcourse ejections. Bregs have had for years the leeway to exoress his opinion in the box. Some of it rep.of eagle eye for balls n strikes and some of it senior star player priviledge. And now in such crucial game for both teams he gets ejected right away? If one tries to stop us by ejecting is there more important player counting offense, defense (no good replacement) and leadership. Was actually waiting if Hunter won't give it up that ump will go between innings to blackface Hunter with rosin and eject him for "rosin in the non pitching piehole". I know Im being just fearful and pessimistic but seems there is everynight little something something and umps know Joe pretty much never goes crazy and defends his players. I would not be able(as manager) restrain myself and not say to umpires I know what they are doing and trying and stop it. Tomorrows SP reads "good Framber" so we gonna win easily if guys finally have gloves in the right hands.
