And, boy, are they turning in a pathetic title defense. One of the worst ever by a team that didn't hold a fire sale in the offseason. What a bunch of frauds.
Rangers will extend the 6-year postseason streak of "every team that beats the Astros, does *not* win a playoff series the following year". 3 of those teams failed to make the playoffs entirely. Fake ass wins/champions ___ Really want at least one more title during this run. The first was great, but tainted. The second solidified the first one. A third would solidify a legit argument of the greatest non-Yankee dynasty in MLB history. .
Have a feeling that 2nd to last series of the season vs Seattle is going to pretty much decide the division winner. Tucker please come back
Pete Harnisch, ladies and gentlemen!! So much nostalgia: the Dome, the unis, Gonzo before he went gonzo, and a pitcher scoring a run!
King Doom and Gloom spends the first two months of the season crying and complaining about the Astros' (mis)fortune. Then, 3 months later, after the Astros have a somewhat comfortable lead in the division and a 90% chance of making the playoffs, he's still finding a way to complain. 90 wins is still possible -- something Doom and Gloom said was impossible. .
Did people expect us to sweep two of the best teams in the MLB on the road with one still wanting payback for the world series?
My all-time favorite Astro (besides Altuve). Lots of memories as kid of sitting in the Dome with my dad just waiting for him to come up so I could yell "CRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUZZZZ"
No, but the Baltimore series should have been either 3 out of 4 or a sweep. No excuses. Philly, yeah, whatever I guess.
Baseball is a marathon, and playing .500 baseball will get you at the doorsteps of playoff contention. Back in April, we were just hoping to get back to .500 Elite teams can be beat by anyone too, but they all have a special type of magic that will expose other teams most miniature mistakes. The Astros have that sort of magic to make things happen. Astros aren’t in the same win totals as some of the other Division leaders because they needed to rely on Arrighetti when he was getting broiled by big league hitting. Brown was having his struggles too. But both those guys are looking like top of the rotation guys now. Valdez loosing his crutches in Maldonado, was a big wake up call for him. Verlander battling injuries and barely getting back up. Blanco is in uncharted territory, pitching like an ace for most of the season. But I think the Astros are sitting very well where they are at. They’ve just about made up a ton of ground on the other division leaders, and they are still expecting Tucker to get back by September 9th.
It's funny, a lot of the national media is just assuming this is our division. No one is giving Seattle a chance in hell to win this division and they're only 4 games back. I read a CBS Sports article just last week predicting we would catch Cleveland and end up as the 2 seed. I saw a video from noted yankee fans Jomboy Media and they were all begrudgingly agreeing that the Astros in the ALCS was just a forgone conclusion because of our "pedigree." They kept saying "The Astros are inevitable" which would make a kick ass marketing slogan, BTW. Remember the days we we all use to b**** and moan about Houston never getting any respect from the national media?
The Stros org won't do it, but it's been all around mlb and espn and other places for a couple of years now. And you're right, it's ****ing brilliant.
