Is it too late to replace VP candidate? I do wonder if there would be any real attempt to do it. What a wild and crazy election year it could be
I seriously doubt France would arrest someone for the release of classified docs of another country and not extradite him. More than likely it was for other criminal activity.
Since the Haaretz article is behind a paywall, I can’t view its claims. However, given that it’s from 6 days ago, jumping to the conclusion that this is the reason for the detention suggests a belief that Israel has significant influence over other countries' police departments, which leans into conspiracy theories. Complaints about Telegram have been ongoing for years, not just recently, indicating that these issues are unrelated. These complaints involve child sexual abuse material, which companies are legally required to address proactively. While this might be what’s happening, no charges have been filed yet, so it’s unclear if this is the case. According to AP and other sources, Facebook and others media platform are known to be proactive and cooperative with investigators in handling child sexual abuse material, whereas Telegram is not. Here’s another article from Forbes that provides more details. Telegram Is Full Of AI-Generated And Real Child Abuse Photos–But Is That Enough To Arrest Its CEO? (forbes.com) For years, Telegram has been home to some of the worst content imaginable. Just this week, the Justice Department charged army soldier Seth Herrera with possession and transmission of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and for using unspecified AI tools to generate images of children. According to the criminal complaint filed against Herrera, he “created his own public Telegram group to store his CSAM and sent himself video files that include screaming children being raped.” Law enforcement is now finding examples of Telegram groups where AI-generated CSAM is being shared on the platform, investigators told Forbes. One current federal child exploitation investigator, who was not authorized to talk on the record, said that there are “entire chatrooms dedicated to ‘nudify’ or ‘fakes’ where someone posts the non-exploitive image of the child so someone else in the group can ‘nudify’ it.” As Forbes previously reported, such Telegram “nudifier” bots are rampant on the app, and have been found marketed on YouTube before the site took them down. Jim Cole, a recently-retired DHS Homeland Security Investigators (HSI) child exploitation investigator, said platforms like Telegram had long “prioritized their bottom line over the safety of their most vulnerable users,” adding that Durov’s arrest was significant. “It sends a strong message that this kind of negligence won’t be tolerated,” he told Forbes. “I bet it’s making others in the tech world a little nervous.” CSAM is present on almost every other major internet platform, from Facebook to Instagram to X. The difference with Telegram, however, is that it has been accused of failing to respond to law enforcement requests for user data, or to effectively and proactively police its platform for such content. Unlike Meta, TikTok and many of the biggest social sites, Telegram has not tipped off the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children when moderators find CSAM. Even Mega, an encrypted storage service once run by the infamously anti-authoritarian Kim Dotcom, regularly supports law enforcement investigations by providing data and tips. ...
Are there even any laws in France against distributing another country's classified material online? It seems like a huge conspiracy leap to connect these two events.
Again, that's the cover for this (and you can read this full article): https://www.newarab.com/news/whistleblower-telegram-channel-shut-down-after-israel-govt-leak It wasn't a problem for them until the documents got leaked. Now they're being wiped clean from Telegram.
Orange County, California is one of several areas that admitted to doing this last year: https://sawpa.gov/santa-ana-river-watershed-cloud-seeding/ The US Gov has admitted to doing this in Vietnam as well. Other governments like the UK have used it too. Not exactly a conspiracy anymore. It's another one that turned out to be true
There was a primary. Sitting president didn't lose primaries. He chose to drop out and go independent.
Just another day in the life of the totally, totally normal RFK Jr: Kennedy once heard that a dead whale had washed up on Squaw Island in Hyannis Port and “ran down to the beach with a chainsaw, cut off the whale’s head, and then bungee-corded it to the roof of the family minivan for the five-hour haul back to Mount Kisco, New York.” “Every time we accelerated on the highway, whale juice would pour into the windows of the car, and it was the rankest thing on the planet,” Kick Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy’s daughter, told the magazine then. “We all had plastic bags over our heads with mouth holes cut out, and people on the highway were giving us the finger, but that was just normal day-to-day stuff for us.”
