I feel like we need to get creative and keep Caratini’s bat in the line up - platoon him and Diaz at 1B? also Gamel has hit in every game with us except one, the 7-5 Orioles loss
Tonight..... Those 2 goofball games in Baltimore really hurt. Tough stretch of games right now, but it still would behoove the Astros to avoid the sweep tomorrow. There is value in that. Offense gotta find a way. .
How about tomorrow's lineup: Altuve 2B Bregman 3B Yordan DH Diaz 1B Caratini C Gamel RF Pena SS Whitcomb LF Meyers CF give it a chance
3 positives from today: - no errors - Pena/Meyers/Altuve are not "discomfort'ing" from that near-miss collision - Big 3 got rest Mariners are *not* leading in 5th inning.
Now they’re up 1-0 and only have two hits. Serious luck if they win this game. Why can’t we win 1-0, 2-0 games? We’re always on the losing end of those
That one run was unearned too. Rays came back with 2 and now lead 2-1. Regardless of the outcome, Mariners are still Seattluck. Eta: 3-1 !!!...Yainer, I mean Yandy with the HR.
Mariners lead 1-0 in 7th. Scoring....Robles steal 2nd and 3rd plus Rays catcher throwing error. Rays just waiting the season to end. M's play Angels and Oakland next who both are not in any way interested helping Astros or in any groove to win games. How we are hitting now superhot Kansas might be rough series too. Would be nice to be able to give nice send of to Verlander littlebit like Boston running handicapped Wakefield on the mound and mashing 10 runs over n over again to give him winning record. Also the knuckle would mess timing for opponents to later games. But we are rolling over 40yo pitcher there and asking him to win us games . Verlander saying in Baltimore during in game interview he likes the proposed 6 innings forced on SP reeks of desperation and trying to not retire yet. It's atleast 2 years he has had any control inside the strikezone and during this time his prev. tight slider has gone worse n worse almost to the point of frisbeelike weak sliders. My favorite pitcher all time, but don't bring him back. And I know you can say what about Maddux and other legends. I don't care much for the period when strike on batters nuts was too high and foot wide was strike, 2 feet if you were big name pitcher. Hated also that some teams BP consisted only weaka*s RHP's who came out and pounded that outside "corner" foot away which batters couldt reach. Lost my thought again. Go Astros!!! Please...would you get going Astros.
You’ll need to quit begging for Seattle’s crumbs. If we can’t make our own bread, then we don’t deserve the bakery.
Obviously, the lineup needs to be stabilized and with more talent. Pitching is the team's strong point at the moment. Hitting, fielding, scoring, etc. is not. Hard to see how this is all going to get fixed in a month. At the present moment, it doesn't look like the Astro's year for a long playoff run. Currently, they are running on square wheels and fielding a different team every day.
