I would do Booker for all of their picks, an additional pick from Houston and Dillon Brooks. I am invested in these next 50 games of figuring out what we have with Jalen Green.

Coming back from a ruptured Achilles is a mother. I understand the skepticism. I'll count you as one of the surprised guys if/when Durant reaches his age 40 season knocking down jumpers for title contenders. I do agree with the premise that availability is your best ability and players who can endure an entire season without getting hurt or have a history of injury are ideal candidates to build around.

Only one that would come close is that Melo to the rockets thread then he end up going to OKC.

Suns making dumb move after dumb move, I love it.

They've said they will start Tyus. So:

    Nurkic
    Durant
    Booker
    Beal/Grayson
    Tyus

Who the F is going to guard Tatum and Doncic and other big wings? Hilarious. Only two of those guys are even good defenders. They have to put up the highest scoring offense in NBA history for this to marginally work out.

I know they'll be better than last season because Bud is a great coach but they're going nowhere, winning nothing and flaming out even sooner than we thought.

    50?

No man, we're not giving him 50 games to figure this out after the all star break. He'll get traded or benched long before that if he's not performing.

IMO he's going to get 20 games. They won't let this season slip while waiting for Green and Udoka to figure it out. This season is so critical for us. If we miss the playoffs, it will be a disaster and heads will roll.

Unless there is a trade, they don’t have a replacement on the team for Jalen after 20 games, unless Amen shows he can shoot, which is doubtful. Sheppard will not be ready to be a starter and Cam is a SF. Jalen will be the starter until there is a viable solution to replace him.
Booker would be ideal, but the off-season next year is probably the soonest we may be able to swing a deal for him. I still think Brooks and a second or two for Brogdon would be ideal as Jalen insurance. Holiday would just be relegated to trash time, and that is where he belongs anyway as soon as Sheppard gets it rolling.

It is unfortunate that our unbalanced roster gives us so many options at SF and so few at SG. If JG doesn't work out, we will be forced to either play a guy out of position, promote a guy who may not be ready or make an in-season trade. As for the later, I don't see the Rockets throwing big money or giving up top assets for anyone who isnt a good fit. Just have to see who is available and for what as the trade deadline nears.

Could be a trade or a benching, depends what the bench players are doing. I don't think Udoka agrees with you that Cam is a SF, he played him at SG almost exclusively. I think he's widely regarded as a SG. I understand you'd slate him as a SF.

I think they would happily trade Green or bench him for a less talented player at that point. So would I. I'd give Cam the minutes as long as he's developing at a standard rate for players his age. I'd maybe try Tari there too > kills our offense but we might become the #1 or #2 defense with that kind of lineup.

I think more likely they trade Green. I'll bet anything Green won't be starting anymore if he disappoints for the first 20 games. An unexpected early trade will yield more assets than trading him after he's publicly benched. Pinching pennies here though, it's not going to matter that much. The big loss is the #2 pick falling flat. The return is going to be one mediocre pick give or take.

I'm personally not interested in acquiring a $20m+ insurance policy. If we were close to a championship maybe but I think it would be a waste and Brogdon has been injury prone and a malcontent on almost every team he's ever been on so I don't get why we'd get insurance that carries its own major risks. Like getting car insurance that randomly doesn't work sometimes.

i think they would just start cam at sg. i agree he's a 2. I think they'd just move jalen to the bench as a sixth or seventh man. i doubt we'd give him a way for a mediocre pick....what will we do with that? we have enough picks. We'd be better off let him ride the bench and send him into restricted and hope he pans out later?

I don’t think Cam is ready to start, especially at SG, but who knows if he has developed some of the necessary skills over the off-season. His handles were not that great, not a willing passer, and his 3 pter was just ok. Lots of people say Amen is raw, but Cam is more raw. He is also the youngest of our core, so he has lots of time to better his skills at whatever position they think he fits. Defense counts too. Hopefully, in the pre-season he can show that he is learning how to play team defense and share the ball.

we're still a rebuilding team, as much as we all want to make the playoffs....we have to throw them into the fire at some point. we have a lot of good young pieces but no clear superstar yet. I believe everyone is still expendable at this point. we have the suns picks and we are still trying to develop our talent. Green was thrown into the fire and cam needs to also. we have sengun and amen who can get him wide open 3s. Cam's defense is good enough.
