Are you willing to pay him 4-5 years at 45-50 mil a year? If he was on a brooks type deal you could maybe argue he would be worth trading some spare parts for but he's not a guy you give up any real assets, and he will be an albatross the moment he extends
I wouldn’t want him at all, not a fan of his player time. I personally wouldn’t want him on the team. What would you give up for him? How much would you extend him for?
If you can get Zion (incredibly doubtful) or Ingram for some combo of Brooks + Tate + Adams or Landale plus limited draft comp (like 1 FRP & a couple of 2nds)... you almost gotta do that deal. Even if Ingram doesn't work out, you could probably flip him next off-season for a FRP via S&T as several teams will have cap space.
Hell no to Ingram. He is a defensive black hole. The only way I trade for him is if Jalen totally sh*ts the bed and they let him go for salary filler and one of our, not Phoenix’s first pick.
Suns Receive: G Jalen Green, F Cam Whitmore, F Tari Eason, 2025 HOU/BKN 1st Round Swap, 2027 1st Round Pick Rockets Receive: G Devin Booker https://twsn.net/2024/08/phoenix-suns-will-trade-devin-booker-to-the-houston-rockets Not sure I am down with this or not, but its a more realistic scenario than many I have seen.
Gotta take out one of Whitmore or Eason and replace with Brooks + Tate I just don't think Booker is going anywhere post Olympics.... for now
I don’t think there is any reason for them to consider a move until after this season. They owe it to themselves and the fans to see at least one more season through.
I am avoiding trading for the Ingram, Zion, Booker, Durant, etc., until I see what we have with Jalen, Cam, Amen, and Reed - because I think Ingram’s and the others purpose would be to provide wing scoring. I like what the Rockets have - and not by a little - in house more than I like the trades. I am in camp that says keep building internally until a Tatum or Ant level talent becomes available. Who knows? Maybe 1-2 of our guys will get there. I think Sengun is closest among our Magnificent 7. I didn’t include Tari, Brooks, or Bari because I don’t think any of the trade candidates above replace their roles. I think the Rockets will make a move in the next year, mainly because we can’t pay all our young players their market value without going over the second apron.
What tips the scales on this is JG. If he makes the leap, its a bad deal for Houston. If he doesn't, ever, its a good deal for Houston, IMO.
That would be an interesting trade. Rockets could end up on the short end if Whitmore or Green blow up. That said, Booker would be a great fit. I would think Rockets could get Phoenix to take 2029 Phoenix pick instead of Tari.
That’s not the correct way to look at it. JG could make a leap with them that he may never make with us. As long as you get what you expect from the player you are trading for, it’s a good trade.
Come on man....That's a HORRIBLE trade. You're taking away three of your top 7 players, which will kill your depth. Jalen is still ascending and remember last yr he matched up well against Booker
