Abreu is still very good, just not all-world as you mentioned like he's been the past 2 seasons. He f***ked up yesterday in many ways, but the GS he surrendered was a pitch 4" above the strike-zone -- dude just mashed that sh**. Perhaps Santander is very good at high pitches. Maybe bad scouting ?!!!
He's pretty ****ing elite. Get him in games when you need him in games, maybe not sit him for 4ish days
That appeal that went the O's way to open the inning wasn't ideal. Lots of good contact on high velocity pitches, wonder if they were just "on" his fastball.
4 runs and were scored on one pitch, which also gave up the lead. No runs had scored before that pitch. You're not going to pull your best 7/8 inning high leverage reliever after 3 batters. Yeah he could have been pulled after the grand slam but the damage was already done losing the lead.
Yeah, I didn't catch the immediate torture. I was feeding my son. . But I had the game on in the other room and then came back to see the score after the damage was done. Promptly turned that **** off. Baby David falls to 6-4. ****ing Astros.
You know he absolutely will be pitching in a close game today. Pitching 2 or even 3 days in a row happens all the time with Abreu.
Yeah someone hits that pitch for a grand slam, what are you going to do. It wasn't a meatball down the middle for sure.
Damn. Hmm. Yeah that pitch location shouldn't have been drilled for a bomb. Well hell. I guess the bigger issue is bases loaded no out.
Abreu averaged around 1.85 ERA last 2 seasons. He has given up 51 hits already (previous years total was 44 and 45), Stos have around 30 something games left. He will surpass the total hits by a big margin this year. And he will surpass career high in total walks. So Jose Espada needs to put a leash, or he will give away more games. I read that the Stros was 51-0 with a 3 run lead in the 8th inning before last nights Orioles revival.
Abreu is a dude. He had an off night. He’s our best or second best RF. Missed the game so there’s that though.
I frankly can't see the Astros sustaining their run with injury upon injury and a lineup full of minor leaguers. Pitching might keep them afloat. Meyers and McCormick are still main stays in the lineup. Tucker's situation is inexplicable. Berkman with mystery problem. Yordan with a new issue. What's next?
Abreu has been getting out of jams all season. This time it didn't happen. That's baseball. The only thing I MAYBE would have done is not throw 4 straight fastball, but he had sat 4 days, maybe it's all he had command of and there was no bases open to risk walking a hitter. Even so if a guy hits 99mph (98.5) up around the letters you tip your cap and move on. At that point, the game was done. Still have the largest division lead in the AL. Hunter did his job. The offense scored 5 w/o Tucker or Yordan. Still lots to be happy about. Today is about getting back in the win column and earning at least the split.
The boards turn faster on relievers than Alvarez on a changeup. Yall would torch Billy Wagner after one blown save.
