Bob Melvin just let his guy give up 6 straight hits and blow a 4 run lead without getting a single out.
**** Mariners just tied it in the 8th. They're about to get a miracle comeback while we got miracle comebacked against ourselves.
Tough loss. Watching past games Abreu meltdown have been coming for a while with insane usage. Couple of games ago he got hit hard for every out at MMP and kept laughing on the mound like "phew". Should be rested for a week but problem ofcourse is he's better when overused than well rested usually. If you rest him now when he imploded it seems like punishment or not having full confidence. Just feels like allthough Joe has done a good job....in some decisions he's reacting after ******** pants already when something has been brewing a while. Ofcourse we would be putting this loss on Joe too if he used someone else (not leverage guys) and we lost. But that's the job. Miracle we scored what we scored with this lineup and gut wrenching to lose like this. One more big hit from Breggy or someone would have put it beyond doubt. Luckily Mariners are so done. The change (Dipoto should have gone too but he's protecting own a*s now firing Servais) should have been done after losing the div lead, not when Astros already blew by flipping the bird. I usually don't include Astros to any lottery bet slips because of jinxing and not being objective but day ago had good feeling about Brown's start and seeing this Povich pitch earlier I thought we finally found LHP we could beat. Ofcourse it starts with Alvarez scratched and ends me yelling to screen "no Abreu!!!!".
Writing that long rant and trying find basic attach button for the slip image I reverse jinxed Mariners back from dead in their game. . What a fking day. Astros and neck injuries, already waiting "we would be dissapointed if he can't turn his head b4 October".
That was unreal. They literally were trying to pitch around Conforto and he was setting the target ABOVE the zone, which is exactly where he threw it multiple times in a row and that idiot called it a strike… Laz Diaz is trash.
Ugh, horrible crappy day, Mariners come back and win and the Astros blow a late lead and more injuries
Today really jumpstarted the Mariners first day with a new manager. Let's hope Yordan can come back soon..and Bregman's injury doesn't get worse...and Tucker can wake up from his 3 month coma.
The worst thing that could happen is M get couple of come back/lucky/hard fought wins and finally muster some confidence. Realise they really do have the pitching and their mediocre guys play rest of the way over their normal standard which is possible. For a start this weekend I don't know Giants have the winner clubhouse/locker to reset from losses like this especially with standings how they sit. Astros have proved (on the road also often) they can for years but the 1.monster in these have often been Yordan's away bat and some clutch defense from Breggy which are both out for now. Feels like the winning Astros can do is from pitching(BP need to hold up too) and the winning culture and mindset from doing it so long. With this lineup I don't see Astros as clear favorite in any game. At this point I mean and with these injuries. So kinda lightly ringing the doombells...scared to see even couple more throw away wins combined with M wins giving M the hope. If they conclude it was the unServiceble face all along we might be getting to the wire with the division.
Can't keep relying on Mariners to bail us out every time we **** the bed. Eventually the Mariners are going to win when we lose. Astros have to do better.
Ain't the same Abreu man. He isn't the same pitcher this year compared to back to back sub 2 ERA years in '22 and' 23. I wish he was still elite. He's not.
