Yeah, it's a very odd shot, it's like there's a slight hitch in his release. It's very mechanical. As far as all these videos go, I am not going to take anything from it besides that it confirms Sheppard is proving he's solid and might get minutes as early as this season. For the rest, I haven't seen anything to believe Jalen Green will take a leap - doesn't look stronger, could be but doesn't necessarily look it.

I don't like he still fades too much when it's not necessary and goes to his spots way too often instead of taking a shot from wherever. Also there's very little resistance if at all at times so a finish at the rim, a dunk, a 3 from a bit deep, that doesn't do anything for me nor is a sign of xyz. Sengun seems to just go through the motions, which is fine, but I hope he's added a lil some em some em.

You couldn't get much out of these workouts except that it confirms your preconceived narratives about Green basically?

Good thing about Green's strength improvements is that you could actually see it in actual NBA games when he did stuff like this on guys like Rudy Golbert:

Sorry I was being snarky, but I really think that the coaches are aware of this technique. He probably has 20 drills a day he is doing to improve his shooting, maybe yours is one of them. Amen is more dedicated to basketball than most anybody I have seen, other than Larry Bird who was in the gym all day, everyday. His shot has been broken for a long time, but with his kind of coachability I think he will improve significantly over the next 2 years. He will need another off-season or two to really take a leap. There really isn't that much practice to be had during the regular season, but if there ever was a guy that will find the time, it is Amen.

Amen’s shot looks infinitely better in that short clip. Base was solid, release was above his head and there was arc on the shot. That’s a stark improvement over that off balance right rope he was chucking up last season.

He was 2/2 . That's almost 100%. Way better than 13% or whatever he shot last year.

Man..I gotta say, as much as I still think Jalen needs to get stronger, looking at this video vs his most recent ones really show that he’s put on a lot of muscle. Part of it is probably growing older, and part of it is having access to NBA-level everything, but it’s super noticeable. I can’t wait to see how jacked Amen and Cam will get in a few years

He definitely has gotten stronger since his rookie year and it's obvious. Cam and Amen seem to have the body type to pack on more muscle than Green's body type. Green will naturally have more wiggle and flexibility than those guys though.

Any objective player sees what??? Our best stretch of basketball last season came when one player got his spacing. 10 games in a row

I'm a big Jalen stan. Sengun eas consistently the best player on the team last year.

Can that change? Sure. Green has it isn him. A consistent Green has a higher ceiling than Sengun but a consistent Green at this point is a big if.

The most consistent player last year & best player on the team are 2 different things. The team collectively played faster & overall better without Sengun last year. How can he be our best player? No team in the NBA wins 10 games in a row with their "best player" out. You can make a argument Sengun's touches slowed our pace

Just stop with this narrative. We didn't just play 10 games without him. What happen in the 10 games after? Team got blown out by all the good teams.

Not sure if posted but this has clips from JG’s Minicamp for:
    JG
    Alperen
    Jabari
    Cam
    Tate
    Reed

    Here’s Amen:

    Takeaways:

JG is still our most versatile scorer even if it is inefficient. He can get a bucket in so many different ways. Consistency, please magically appear.

Alperen makes it look easy. Crafty/Smooth

Jabari looks stronger and looks like his handle has gotten better.

Cam’s shot is so smooth and he is strong as an Ox. Not afraid to put the body into the D. Think him, Sheppard, Amen, Eason, Adams makes for a lights out 2nd unit.

Reed hold his own on D and isn’t at all timid to pull the trigger from deep (and he hits). Smooth.

Amen is going to be tough on both ends- stronger and a freak athlete (as we already knew). Unstoppable going downhill.

They started doubling Jalen at half court forcing the ball out his hands, which is superstar treatment

So did we play better without Sengun then if we kept getting blown out?

What's gonna change this year if they double Jalen at half court? Aren't we still screwed? Maybe having playmaker like Sengun will help Jalen not get doubled....

Mechanical might be the word .... I'm wondering if he might be a bit OCD - overthinking everything.

I've watched some older videos of him working on his shooting for that give me that vibe. What he did with the off hand was just strange, hard to explain.

That bounce in this most recent video gives me that same vibe.

You forget that the streak started before Sengun got hurt.

What fixed the spacing wasn't Sengun being on the bench, it was the fact that Jalen shot 47% from 3 for the duration. It made defenders have to honor that shot instead of playing well off of him.

He had 27 games where he shot a combined .508 from distance. Those games without question were his best / most impactful.

He also had 43 games where he shot a combined 17.5%. When I did the math, I almost fell out of my chair, I knew it was bad but not that bad - the 12 games of .000 really hurt the overall which wasn't good minus those 12 games.
That's what he has to eliminate - even if it's just shooting between .333 and league average in the vast majority of those, he doesn't have to be .508 all the time,

I don't agree with the guy you're discussing this with, but if you wanted to make a fair comparison you can't just remove Sengun because Sengun wasn't playing with an injury depleted roster.

Assume we trade Sengun for Myles Turner. Not an upgrade for us, and it's arguably a downgrade even. Bench Brooks for Tari (because Brooks is by far our worst transition player). The team will become a top 3-5 defense and Green will replace a lot of Sengun's scoring because of the radically improved spacing from Turner and increase in transition opportunities. Basically if Green beats his man at the 3PT line it's a dunk, Sengun's defender is no longer hanging out in the paint to be a second line of defense.

Doesn't matter though. We know Sengun or Green with 4 shooters can succeed in getting us better but it will cap our potential because there's no other playmaker on the floor. We need them both to become better shooters so they can do damage together. Making this work with the duo is what opens that contender ceiling. We're going to do it, I have no doubt.
