A new medical and training staff should be on the shopping list this offseason.

It's crazy how much things can change in this sport. About a month ago the rotation appeared to be in shambles.

Now with Verlanders return we have 6 guys you feel pretty good giving the ball to. Not merely solid either, they've flashed legit dominance.

If I told you back in camp that Javier, Garcia, Urquidy,France and LMJ would all be unavailable for the final 4 months and Verlander would miss half the season one would have very easily assumed disaster.

    Loooooove the quote.

“I watched many celebrations from across the field,” Gamel said. “I’m happier to be wearing the blue and orange.”

Runners are also looking to turn singles into doubles.

They're much less likely to take an extra base on Yordan than they are Chas, Meyers. Yordan actually has an above avg arm

Conversely, they're much less likely to reach base at all on Chas or Meyers than they are on Yordan.

Not true, you make it seem like Chas is a GG type LF. He's not, He's slightly better than Yordan in LF and the difference in the batters box is huge. Large enough to be able to live with 2 or 3 balls a week that Chas can get to vs Yordan. BTW, most games are like last nights game where the slight difference doesn't come into play.

They took one last night. Yordan was slow to field the ball and the runner took second base. That hit was a single versus an average MLB LF.

There is obviously a tradeoff of having an extra bat in the lineup and having Yordan play LF ... but it is not a slam dunk. The Astros given their current injuries sitch will be playing Yordan in LF more than usual. I will not be surprised if Yordan rounds into fielding shape over the next few weeks.

While I'm not disagreeing with you on how much these issues ought to factor into the ultimate decision, that neither changes the fact that Chas and Meyers have superior range than Yordong nor addresses my post - seeing as though that is clearly the only point I was making.

I missed the beginning of the game.

BTW, same thing happened to Chas a few games ago.

    What was your point.

Mine is Yordan is an avg LF with a better arm than the other LF and that should be capable playing out there 100 games a year.

Guy had 2 leg problems in his early 20’s. He’s not going to hurt us game by game playing there but his health is paramount. Ideal world he plays 40 games in LF during the year and 100% in the playoffs imo. We aren’t in an ideal world right now.

The Astros culture can not be overstated enough. Guys like Altuve, Bregman, Correa, Verlander and all the pitchers that signed for some change they found in the couch really has put the Astros where they are. No quit in any of them.

Also to be taken into consideration - in addition to the obviously increased injury risk of Yordong playing the field everyday - is the potential impact that the trades-off of Getsomb's bat for Crushtini's and glove for BregTheMang's might have on the lineup and defending the hot corner, respectively.

While being one both totally out our control and by its very nature limiting in terms of options, the unfortunate situation in which we currently find ourselves presents in turn the opportunity for a Great Rectification in the form of Getsomb's Ascent.

I, for one, will be rooting for him to show he has what it takes to do what we as 'Stros fans have come to learn in gratitude through humility is never ideal nor owed...

...and when Destiny calls, to answer Her with Dynasty.
