I got another letter informing me that my data has been breached. I've lost count of how many times my data has been breached now. Why even protect the data at all anymore?
I suspect I've got a few: Jackson Browne tunes have aged better than The Eagles. What is even the point of mild cheddar? It sucks. Extra sharp or nothing. Sour cream does not belong on Mexican food. Physical books are good and people should read them more. West Texas is now the best part of the state. Too many damn people elsewhere. TikTok is brain poison. With a very few exceptions (and samplings), music since 1992 sucks.
The Clash is overrated. Everything the Chili Peppers did after Blood Sugar Sex Magic is unlistenable garbage. Weezer sold out. Beverly Hills was the end for them. The current NBA is unwatchable.
Spanish Bombs is The Clash's only song worthy of rotation. Aeroplane is RHCP's only song worthy of rotation. Arguing about Weezer's catalog is like debating the best season of Mighty Morpin Power Rangers. The quality of the NBA has never been better. Every team in the 90s was 50% Anthony Masons.
I know this will probably incur the wrath of @Rashmon but I have never been able to get into The Grateful Dead. Now I am not going to say that they suck but I have never understood their appeal other than getting stoned, I guess.
It’s just not my thing, I don’t really understand quite why she has such a deep following. The music is pretty plain, I mean there’s no overstating that really. Regardless of how you feel about it, conceptually the music is basic. She’s a good singer but I wouldn’t put her on any short list or anything. My wife swears the lyrics are genius and I’m just like…idk I guess. She’s doing something right obviously but I don’t connect with it at all. And then like, it’s on everywhere. Everyone else is trying to win the Taylor’s biggest fan contest and I get their contempt when I’m like “eh, it’s ok”. Idk man. Disagree on new music being bad though. There’s been a slew of bands I’ve found just in the last year that jam. Another swing at being unpopular: Texmex restaurants aren’t what they used to be. They’re overpriced af now, and the quality, taste have all gone out the door. Like nothing can be actually spicy either. Honest to god I’d rather go almost anywhere else.
What bands? I’m willing to give it a try. Totally agreed on the TexMex. Pisses me off, and so freaking expensive for meh food. Specially fajitas
Yeah expensive texmex is fundamentally out of character. It’s literally a way to feed a big family a filling meal on the cheap. Then you go somewhere and it’s not even bomb fajitas? And it’s like a 2 person plate for $40-$50?? Nah man. You can make it at home for like $10. The spicy thing too, I get that not everyone likes super hot but I’m not dipping my chips into ketchup either. Blehh New music - what do you listen to? I’m a metalhead and imo metal is making a comeback these days, soooo many good bands Sleep Token, Spiritbox, Voyager, Ice Nine Kills is fun, Vola, Caligulas Horse just to name a few. Periphery! They’re not new but the new stuff jams. I dug the metal core vibe for a minute but those bands just saturated metal and squeezed the life from it. Early 2000s Nu metal broke the mold of technical proficiency and imo metal core sought to reestablish that. Just took it too far to a point where it wasn’t even interesting music. I feel like this new era hits the right balance between the two, plays heavy, plays musical, sings or screams often both, very sonically hyped up, mixed in a lot of electronica and synth. I love it.
****, I took my business partners and family to Escalantes the other day. Their family fajita platter, I think 2 pounds of beef was $99 a platter. Bill was over $300 and it was terrible beef. We usually get medium rare there where it’s solid meat. This was like crock pot cooked beef. We had some drinks so it masked some of my frustration. I honestly listen to anything, I just can’t stand pop or new “hip hop”. Repetitive sounds and no real lyrics. I’ll give them a try
