actually yeah, he was totally on his own with no transalator. and you know what that just may be the first time he has ever done that. matter of fact I am certain it was. a and thats the only reason i was being sensitive to yao's feelings, sircharlsefan, because the Yao of Now understands english as well as any english major in manhattan, and while he was sitting down he knew exactly what Regis was saying about him not understanding english and to to talk slow to him. You don't do reterded hand gestures to the crowd and say Yao needs to be talked to slowly while Yao is sitting down next to you. Regis is yuppie and was being condesceding to Yao because Yao is now considered a houstonian. If he ever does that again I will purchase a ticket and fly to newyork and kick regis's ass because I read Yao's book and I love that dude.
texas.. yeah I love yao too... it's threads like these that kind of make me feel sorry for the guy.. he has so much pressure on him.. to not only be a basketball player but almost a chinese ambassador to the united states etc..
thanks for the answer about the no translator.. thats impressive.. being able to learn the langauge so fast.. especialy when hes' not here the entire year ..

Amen bro! well said. Regis kissed David letterman's a$$ everytime he went to Dave's show, he has a lot to learn how to run a talk show....
Right on, Texas Stoke! I'd pay big bucks to watch you beat down that little condesceding twerp, Regis. He always has that stupid smirk on his face and it would be great to see you slap it sideways. Yao handled himself quite nicely.
My girlfriend in NYC went to the book signing at the NBA Store and got the inside scoop for Clutchfans. She couldn't get great pictures because they would not allow close up shots or flash, and she could only take pictures from above. Yao did the media interviews on his own in English without the assistance of Colin. They also showed clips of Yao's movie, and she said it had some funny parts like when Yao was practicing swinging a golf club and accidently hit someone standing next to him right on the forehead. And when my girlfriend went up to get her book signed, she couldn't help but notice that Yao had some scruffy facial hair: "It looked like he forgot to shave." Anyways, here are some pictures of the NBA Store and Yao being interviewed, and signing books, and the last picture shows Yao's signature. I hope ya'll can figure out how to use this shutterfly thing... you just need to click on "View as Slideshow" in the top right (I think). NBA Store Pictures
They for sure had 250 people get their books signed by Yao, Yao could go over that number if he wanted to though.. The line was supposed to start at 3:30 PM but there were 50 or more people already lined up before 3:00 PM, and that's when she got in line. She doesn't know how many were behind her. There was a NBA TV crew there so you can prolly see the interview on that channel sometime (or maybe they'll post it online sometime) And if you notice in picture 0113, Yao sitting down is as tall as everyone standing up!
pimphand24: Thanks to you and your girl for the awesome pics! Hang on to that women, she is a keeper.
