Ya that's against these Uber athletic, shifty and long defenders like Amen, Green making these type of floaters consistently would do wonders. It's really really hard to straight up blow by a guy like Amen even for a guy like Jalen who can almost always effortlessly blow by defenders. You gotta learn counters and Green is hopefully getting there.
Let's be clear. If he does succeed on this team you two will be posting less here and that'll be cool.
The road ahead is shorter than the road behind on this issue. Given the strength of the west, this and other issues need to be resolved just to make a post-season appearance, much less any form of greatness.
I think the dire need is to replace Fred VV's role, he solely added 10 wins to this squad but he is the present rather than the future. I do not see a pure SG as that important right now. If this team can make the POs without much help from VV then they would be ready. You gotta bake the cake first, Jalen would be the cherry on top.
Jalen has always played well vs traffic cones and human traffic cones (March was the latter). The West is going to be loaded with potentially every team outside of Utah and Portland trying to make the playoffs. We will find out very quickly if he's made the most of his summer and built upon with he did in March or if it's the same old Jalen.
Beyond this coming season, you have a point. My focus however is getting this coming season right. Having a SG that is a plus player is very important to this coming season.
No doubt. The keys are playmaking long term, consistent shooting and spacing, hard nosed Defense. Jalen will be after numbers in his contract year, I hope it aligns with winning and efficiency above all. He has to learn to defer to better prospects if that is what it takes IMO.
These few posters above always post in tandem with the same platitudes jerking each other off. Anyone else notice this? Are you guys like alternate accounts of the same person?
Pffffff riiiight! These profound analysts and "super" fans will cash in the "glad I was wrong" card or even better say things like they knew he had it in him all along and just wanted to push him to reach those lofty expectations. They will promptly turn their vitriol to another player on the team and continue to feed their inadequacies in life via shtposts and stat rankings. If Jalen breaks through to all star level player the receipts pulled will be biblical.
The three posters above don't do any analysis of the game. It's mainly platitudes and talking points. Also these posters think they are coy with their passive aggressiveness believing they don't contribute to divisive poo flinging.
I know you can’t take too much from highlight videos especially when virtually no one is playing defense very hard, but the one 3 pointer that Amen took showed much better form. He would immediately be all-star level if he has already developed a decent jump shot. I doubt he has come that far, but with his work ethic, I won’t discount the possibility.
He's a handful as is. The way he gets to the bucket and finishes strong is special. If he can up his free throws it will hopefully help him get comfortable with jump shots. His form is too robotic for me - he understands its his weakness so he's trying so hard to stay true to form. I think he needs to relax a little bit and shoot it with confidence. What impressed me the most is that Amen was reminding us all he's a point guard. Kid can really see the court and get the ball into tight places.
