What this article fails to address is big. That the rich you are so fiercely defending dodge tax on their wealth by INTENTIONALLY not realizing gains from their stoks there by not having to pay tax. What they do instead, they borrow the money they would cash out, and pay a nominal interest rate on that loan. But the cost of that loan is far less than paying tax if they sell. So this way they dodge a big tax burden. Is that fair? Is it fair that people like Mush can dodge taxes by intentionally not realizing gains and instead getting a very low interest loan (which they can reinvest as well!).
That's what some Venezuelans said when Chavez took power. The smart ones liquidated their assets and left the country when they still could. Look at Venezuela now. Socialism has destroyed an incredibly beautiful and resource-rich country.
Holy cow. I couldn't help but notice Obama's point about algorithms and online trolling. Something about it, really rang a bell. Thankfully, folks on this board are beyond that.
Oh damn, Michelle got em good, they big mad. They're already resorting to sexist insults. Please cry more, it's funny.
Maybe my perception is skewed by the people around me. That number seems low. Feels like I know half of them lol.
I can’t even imagine a republican giving an uplifting speech…if we were listening to a MAGAt, it would be nothing but stupidity, lies, and fear mongering
Yea since I didn't know the mechanism of the proposal I figure I could atleast find how many people this 100 net wealth tier would affect so I did a bit of digging. I grabbed it from Henley & Partners. I dont know how they defined the metric but even ballpark is pretty note worthy.
lee zeldin would do well to read US history book, specificcally on Herbert H Humphrey, LBJ's vp in 1968, the POTUS LBJ withdrew after an unexpectedly strong challenge from anti-Vietnam War presidential candidate, Senator Eugene McCarthy of Minnesota, in the early Democratic primaries. McCarthy, along with Senator Robert F. Kennedy of New York, became Humphrey's main opponents for the nomination. Their "new politics" contrasted with HHH's "old politics" as the increasingly unpopular Vietnam War intensified. Humphrey entered the race too late to participate in the Democratic primaries. He relied on "favorite son" candidates to win delegates and lobbied for endorsements from powerful bosses to obtain slates of delegates.
Russia is offering republicans a new home…I hope many of them take the offer and finally find some happiness
