Well that’s interesting. Gamel is out of options so unless they’re just trying to pass him thru again then he will be on the active roster.
Either they are desperate to field an outfielder with a pulse or they know Tucker isn’t coming back. Or both. Personally, I think Gamel stinks.
Spoiler Crazy thing about this stat is the 32-39 before his release includes the ~10-5 record while he was in Florida. The Astros pace after the release and while Everglade'ing was probably 120 wins. .
Gamel can play 1B too so maybe they saw enough of Dezenzo to say he’s not ready and are just adding him as a platoon mate for Singleton.
I think the Astros are desperate for a bat and trying anyone with a pulse and with potential. They called up several from their minors, Cabbage and now Gamel. Hope they find someone that can stick
Gamel is lefthanded and always had passable OBP skills. As desperation grabs go, I certainly get this one. Maybe he can be part of a functional platoon, the OF has just been so painfully pulseless the last month.
The walks, defense, OF batting, and Altuve/Meyers in RISP situations have been bad the last week but we still winning at the needed pace.
After Bregman got hurt, we started playing poorly, making careless mistakes. We were in a roll there for a stretch.
