Timing of the Framber trade discussion is funny to me. If we win today, it's because of Framber. In a rotation of guys who all seem to spend time on the IL, Framber is an ace who stays healthy and pitches deep into games. And in his prime. Usually a contending team wants to keep guys like that.

It is incredibly unlikely that Houston actually entertains trading Framber this offseason. Like you said, contenders don’t trade away guys like him. I’m just always on the lookout for creative ways Houston can extend their window.

Victor Caratini has his OPS up to .780 for the season. Dana Brown really cooked with that signing. If he's not catching, he should really be DH'ing anytime Yordan doesn't.

Batting average? Come on, you are better than that.

Yes. And on May 8th he was at .189 w/ .520 OPS.

So from May 9-27 he had a .713 OPS. That's about 5% better than MLB average during that time.

    April 2-15 = .757
    May 3-16 = .903

Saying he was in a slump the entire 2 months is disingenuous at best, and intentionally omitting facts to meet your argument at worst.

Bregman had multiple slumps the first 2 months of the season but also had 2+ week stretches of better than average production multiple times within those 2 months.

    Chas simply can't say that.
Actually, not this year- poor argument lol

Bregs has a track record and a more consistent swing. Plus Bregs has defensive value.

Chas has none of these things.

As I previously stated, I wasn’t comparing the 2 players. I was simply pointing out that even great players can have similar slumps.

I get what you're saying but the comparison between the two and their track records are really apples/oranges.

So Bregman, on May 8th, after starting every day for 6 weeks, was at .189 and .520? Well that is like 160-170 at bats right? And no hamstring pull in the middle of it. It’s really not too different even with Alex going .713 for a couple of weeks afterward. He was able to play everyday and got out of his slump slowly after about 6 weeks. It’s not all that different and Chas has had an injury and inconsistent playing time.

But it has nothing to do with my point that even great players can struggle for 2 months. Also, Chas may not have the track record that Alex has but he does have a record of success. That is exactly why he is getting playing time now.

Not really much of a track record, but you're right they're playing him out of necessity and he's going to continue to fail. Below the Mendoza line at this point of the season with very little defensive value. SMH.

    You keep telling yourself this.

Excuses, Chas has had plenty of time to work his way out of this funk and he's failed and will continue to fail this year. Running him out there regularly is almost like running Abreu out there everyday. Is this what you relly want because you're a Chas fan? I'm a Chas fan too, but I've accepted what this year is going to be for him.

Bottom line is this team would be so much better if Dana had picked up a league avg bat at the deadline, but it didn't happen, water under the bridge.

As long as he doesn't have to actually throw the ball.

Meh, I disagree. I think you run chas out there in left field for the next few weeks. He’s not blocking anyone better and he really cannot get worse. But if he got red hot down the stretch it would be a huge weapon.

Wasting time hoping isn't a plan. Give the young guys a shot in LF.

    Yes, Yuli is playoff proven.

Put Yuli at 1B, Cartini/Diaz splitting time between C/DH and Alvarez playing the last 30-35 games in LF and lets roll.

    World Series lineup:

    Against Lefties:
    Altuve 2b
    Bregman 3b
    Alvarez LF
    Tucker RF
    Diaz 1b
    Pena SS
    Myers CF
    Caratini C
    Whitcomb DH

    Against Righties:
    Altuve 2b
    Bregman 3b
    Alvarez Lf
    Tucker RF
    Diaz C
    Pena SS
    Meyers CF
    Singleton 1b
    Caratini/Dubon/Whitcomb whoever is hot DH

Of course if McCormick or Whitcomb begin mashing that changes everything and will also depend on splits.

    Rotation if all goes right:
    Valdez
    Brown
    Kikuchi
    Verlander

    Bullpen:
    Arrighetti
    Blanco
    King
    Martinez
    Scott
    Abreu
    Presley
    Harder

That would give us only one complete black hole against both righties and lefties. I don’t think there is a staff in the playoffs with our depth and flexibility. This also depends a lot on Singleton and Myers at least hitting ok.
