There are some very good reasons to vote against the Trump/Vance ticket. Trump wanting to just throw away election results he didn't like is one of them. Eyeliner and couch ****ing, which as far as I can tell is just made-up online trolling, is not one of them.

not a Trump supporter, repeat: not a Trump supporter. But we are quite good friends with a woman who has a close connection to Trump's main speech writer (Vince Haley). Haley started with Newt Gingrich and has been with Trump a long, long time. So clearly not everyone bails on Trump.

    https://www.wm.edu/news/stories/2017/wm-alumnus-to-serve-in-white-house.php

But your point is otherwise well taken. It does seem like folks who have been through the Trump grist mill have terrible things to say about the experience.

ps. I will also say that Trump (at least during his administration's years) did not care for people to know about his speech writers, who they were, or basically anything about them. Apparently Haley says the main skill to working with Trump as a speech writer is being able to stay invisible in the background.

Funny how some people are using the same rhetoric now as they did in '16. Like we didn't live through the 4 years of his presidency, and it was better than the last 4 years. Lotta people voted for Trump back then because they didn't wanna vote for Hillary, that didn't make 'em Trump supporters, just choosing between the two and exercising their right to vote as citizens. That'll be the case for lotta people rn as well, and they wonder how did someone like Trump got in power, well look who you're putting up against him.

In that speech and based on his past actions:
    1. Trump is against freedom of speech.
    2. Trump is okay with anti-Semitism—he didn’t say anything about deporting Nick Fuentes but dined with him and endorsed an anti-Semitic politician.

    1. Totally agree with you on Hillary in '16.

    2. A lot of us, like my household, suffered badly from 2016-2020. So I'm not in denial about living through that presidency. Trump and the GOP's tax changes hurt us a lot, and his international antics deeply hurt the company I work for. (I'm not saying his presidency was worse for everyone, but you shouldn't pretend that everyone was just doing great in those years.)

    3. A vote for Trump in 2016 is a fundamentally different thing than a vote for Trump in 2024. I support your right to vote as you like, most definitely. But voters know a lot more about Trump now. His constant insults, erratic behavior, inability to articulate ideas, his streams of lies, the statements from his many cabinet members who no longer support him, his dangerous election denying and attempts to subvert the results of the 2020 election, etc. Not even getting to the many convictions and court cases against him. If you support all that or choose to dismiss it all, fine, but voting against Clinton in 2016 is just a very different thing than voting against Harris in 2024. If a voter loathes Harris but recognize Trump for who and what he is, that voter has options in other candidates or could sit this one out.

"Give Trump a try" in 2016 <--> not equal to <--> Voting for obvious crazypants, vindictive, self-obsessed criminal in 2024

no idea how people can sit there and hear him ramble day after day for 2-3 hours the same sh*t that he’s been saying since 2016

Great post btw, some people see it as you do, but some people see that there were no wars, the power of the dollar was better and all they had to do is deal with his obnoxious mouth. Can't really hold Afghanistan against Biden, that had to be done, we can argue about they way it was done but the bottom line is that the plug had to be pulled and he did it. Now Ukraine and the other stuff (the world basically being on the brick/edge of ww3 if Iran attacks Israel), that argument can be used for Trump (that it didn't happen while he was there), no matter how you slice it.

    This has to be fake.

Either way, it's true. The fact that the Republicans couldn't realize that Trump was not a guy to hang the hat of your party on five years or more ago is sad.

Just like the fact that the Dems didn't realize the same about Biden 3 years ago.

But I guess that's how Washington rolls. Reactive instead of Proactive.

Explains a lot about this country and why it desperately needs a forward thinking leader to usher a party into the modern times (who that is, I have no idea....I always thought it was Andrew Yang or Mark Cuban).

P.S. I would/will love nothing more than to see Republicans hopping off that sinking ship. It will be hilarious. Both in seeing the hypocrisy of these career politicians and in seeing the ensuring Trump Meltdown.

Republicans don't have a choice because Trump will run as an independent if they try and kick him out. Trump will never step down for the good of the country or the Republican party.

I would assume it's too late for him to get on the ballot in most states as an independent, but I could be wrong.

    Maybe they waited on purpose?

I wore my Kamala-Walz shirt to church today where several are MAGAts. As we were greeting one another people started complimenting my shirt. The pastor came up to me, shook my hand, and then froze. He said, "Hold on. I have to do this.." He got up front and told everyone he and the entire church should do the right thing and vote for Kamala just like I am. He pointed to my shirt and everyone cheered. After church we had a brunch and lit up the fire pit, where everyone threw their MAGA gear into it. Never give up!
