He made a comment not to long ago about a store owner being arrested while trying to get into his store to do some inventory in an Oakland district. There are some that can ignore and play while their city is in shambles but I believe Klay keeps awareness of his community. Leaving because he was disrespected is one thing but he also kept the aspect of the Bay Area being a neglected dump in the back of his mind that could settle a decision to leave.

What's your solution to crime, homelessness, poverty btw?

Is the "sweep them up and hide em somewhere in a dark corner to pretend everything is good" solution?

    The Nayib Bukele method?

It's a 'holistic' health aspect that can bring a community to its knees. I would start with the cause and effect of every individual condition.

Nobody cares, but I live in the Bay Area and had another wondrous day here yesterday. Like 65˚ and sunny, nice sea breezes. Talked with lots of neighbors who were out and about with their dogs and kids.

I walked about 12k steps all around the city and did not encounter any of the stuff that so many other people are obsessed with. Didn't even find any abandoned dog poop for once, much less a homeless person or a needle or anything.

Can you find it if you really want to make a depressing short, edited social media video? Well, sure, absolutely. And I know where to find a few depressing areas. The city's not perfect, and no city is. Most neighborhoods are thriving here these days, with lots of small businesses doing well. But other areas are not doing well.

When I lived in Houston, I could sure as hell find struggling areas there too. And I was more frequently a witness to violent crime. But I loved that city and still do. And y'all think Klay will find a progressive, lift-everyone-up utopia in southern Oklahoma now? That's why he left California?

I'm not gonna post example vids (even though I dislike Dallas), but go to youtube and look up "Dallas neglected poverty." Hoo boy. And you'll find some actual data to back up the videos. Like a high rate of childhood poverty, etc. Oh well, I guess "Klay" didn't do his homework. Or maybe he'll be moving again after one season if he cares about childcare and women's health, for instance.

Felt it was a good idea before the election, I sent my kids (10&13) to San Diego this past summer to see their family there, and enroll in few short recreational camps/courses in between. they enjoyed most of the fun California has to offer (Lego,Disney, serving, etc) but were surprised how common is it to loot/shoplift for an upscaled area of the city.
They noticed kids there brag about who committed the biggest arson, unlike Vancouver kids who brags about who spent the most on Tylor Swift/celebrity concerts .so that maybe influenced Clay's decision:eek:, or maybe they want to persuade me not to retire there as I had told them before

Can't see the latest posts, but have already enjoyed a beautiful walk in sunny 65˚ with no signs of urban dysfunction this morning. Lots of people out with baby strollers, dogs, cafe life. About to go pick up a cherry pie from the local bakery I can walk to.

Also, the Mrs and I went to the financial district recently and were surprised to see some new businesses popping up and more workers returning to the area. Surprising signs of life in the work-from-home era.

Bay Area to (1) certain posters and to (2) Southern Oklahoma's NBA franchise, fitting bedfellows:

Real Texans don't give two poops about California, aside from enjoying the occasional vacation, and I don't blame them. I love real Texans.
