You can have multiple vesting options. They could do something like that but it’d probably be hard to get both sides to agree.
Yeah- both sides would basically have to say- hey- we want you to pitch the rest of your years in Houston- let’s just get it sorted now and have certainty of knowing that’s the deal. Pitch as long as you want. not real likely as they could just do rolling 1 and 1’s indefinitely without eliminating all those options but would be interesting. college coaches have done stuff like this recently with “lifetime” contracts.
All the Pressly haters in jubilation. We will realize how much we collectively undervalue America's closer.
Because if he doesn’t come back from this IL stint before the end of the year then he becomes a free agent. Lots of potential implications for why he is going on the IL now (and not sooner or later). He could have been hiding an injury for awhile knowing if he brought it up he loses $14M next year. That kind of **** is interesting to me.
There's zero chance his season is over due to a back strain. Even if he's not really ready to comeback he will say he is,and the team will oblige him. That caveat is for TJ or some other disaster injury.
I think it’s more interesting you would consider this interesting in any way. The Astros couldn’t keep him IL’d just to get out of the deal if he isn’t hurt…so you are thinking Pressly might fake an injury to become a free agent? And not want to pitch down the stretch with all his homies for what? More than the 14 million he is getting next year? If he hid the injury its because he thinks he can get guys out anyway cause he loves baseball. It is similar to three months ago when you thought it a smart idea to trade Tucker and Bregman because you thought the season was over. You don’t seem to understand how elite athletes are wired or why management values the chance of winning today over tomorrow.
Play him every day or send him down to play every day. Should have been sent down months ago to play until he was right and then been in the line up every night… I’m sure Baker is smiling somewhere. Chas is known as a weird guy, last guy Astros had like him was Ensberg.
For some people the prospects are always greener on the other side MiLB rankings are better than results?
