The Astros being good really helped. If they were good enough, you even had a seemless transition from Baseball to Basketball in late October.
I was doing the count in my head FVV - gettin' too old for this **** IYKYK Uncle Jeff - just groovin Steven Adams - rehab still? Villain - up in the 6 punching pics of Bron, Curry, & Wemby Jock - down under post Paris? If Thrilla (& Amen & Sengawd) are working on their outside shooting & Cam is working on his passing / decision-making, should be a good mini-camp Surprised Tate is there :raised eyebrow: & Holiday as well
Tate is just a dude you want around. Seems like the best teammate to have. If you pay attention to him when he's on the bench, dude is almost always the most animated dude. Holiday one is surprising. But more bodies more ability to play full on scrimmages.
I don't think there's an offensive assistant on the planet that can take a bunch of non-shooters and make them efficient in a modern offense. Team just has to start shooting better. Amen & Sengun being the worst offenders, closely followed by Jalen. 13.8 29.7 33.2 You can hide one of them ..... the other two have to improve or they can't coexist. The defense is going to have to be really good for this team to reach expectations.
Has he done this before? Just seems interesting that it is billed as "hosted by Jalen Green"? As we also saw him at the draft, is he trying to become the vocal/emotional leader of the team?
Of course there are no assistants who will turn bad shooters into good shooters, but they obviously can improve our efficiency with different schemes and choices. Udoka can gain a lot from an experienced offensive mind.
That’s all this sounds like to me. What does something like this consist of? I assume he rents out a facility for a few days. Does he hire people to conduct film study, coordinate drills, officiate scrimmages, etc.? Who are these people?
You know when you don't like someone and the most trivial things they do annoy you even though that specific thing you are annoyed about is rather benign or trivial?
I’m ok with anything that makes these guys a better team. I am asking a genuine question not being snarky. What is the purpose of a players only camp in the offseason? Is it to build personal relationships? Is it to have fun working out together? Are there rules that rockets coaches can’t be involved? Do they do drills or just scrimmage a lot?
That would be dope.... but I think it's mainly playing ball together and trying to figure out tendencies, best places to pass the ball, situational awareness on defense, etc. They may have officials (i.e. someone who knows basketball with a black & white shirt on)
Yes team coaches aren't allowed to organize practices during the off-season. Only players can. That's why it has to be in this manner to get any team building chemistry during the off-season. Ime or Sullivan can't call the guys and organize a practice run. That breaks player union contracts. To look at it any other way like saying this is PR for Jalen is kinda just cringe.
It could be all that, but leaving out the coaching staff seems counter productive given that when the pre-season comes around, the coaching staff will have their own ideas about those very same things. If the players only come to conclude certain changes, wont they have to relearn it all again on the points where the coaches feel differently about said changes?
They are just training together. Dear Lord. I wonder if any other rocket organized this would people like you have these "concerns"?
I think y'all are taking this too seriously. I think this is just them getting together one time before the season and the real training starts. You know people like Sheppard and other rookies probably have butterflies and are anxious about the season and what they're supposed to be doing. It's probably a way for them to get included in something before training camp starts. Kind of building teamwork before the team is built by the coaches. I'm sure they'll all give each other pointers about what they went through, what to expect, and pep talks. It's probably kind of like those "Bahamas bonding" sessions the Rockets always had in the summer. I'm also sure there'll be stuff thrown about what expectations are and how they all need to improve, but I'm guessing this is just about building some chemistry. TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK!!!! You know what? Screw it - I don't trust any of you guys, anyway, so I asked ChatGPT, and it gave me a rational answer :
Probably, but there isnt anything else to focus on. Your post mentioned players being anxious, well, the fans are too. So much so that every morsel of information goes through the meatgrinder and then regurgitated a few dozen times.
