Jabari probably saw some things he didn't like. Or one of them was trying to get something out of him, caugh wind of it and he went scorched earth. Smart kid.

Maybe, I still think his ceiling is better Tayshaun Prince. It is only his 3rd year and they honestly don't run anything for him or really have him shoot where he should be, basically all corners or straight ahead. They set him up for elbow 3pt way too often and that isn't his shot.

Let's say Jabari shows just half the improvement he did last season. So he would be shooting over 47% from the field and 39% on 3's. Grabbing 9 rebounds. Slightly better defense than last season. That would be incredible for him and us.

I really think it's best for Jabari to get back to basics. If he is not great at making 3's, nothing else he does can stand alone as a useful weapon in the playoffs. Before working on fancier stuff, let's get back to improving that 3PT shot and putting on more muscle. He'll gradually get better at finishing and mid range but he has to deliver on being a great shooter first and foremost.

So far, Tari is not only the better defender and rebounder, but surprisingly also the better shooter.

While this may be true, it is debatable and very close. Jabari was selected for Team USA select team for a good reason. Tari has a longer wingspan, gets more blocks and loose balls, and plays the passing lanes better. Jabari has stays in front of his man better with positioning and lateral movement, directs the defense more, and gets more dribble and low strips. Tari is a higher energy player, but Jabari has plays about 50% more minutes per game and in about 50% more games. Both are pretty elite perimeter defenders.

I think it's awesome that Dillon Brooks is probably our 5th best perimeter defender (Amen, Bari, Tari, Tate). I can't wait to see these guys on the court together. In my opinion, there should be 2-3 of Amen, DB, Jabari, Tari, or Tate on the court at all times.

Good post except the Tate inclusion. He is a foul machine and should only get garbage minutes this year if he still on the team.

NBA.com says JaeSean had the 2nd best Defensive Rating in the NBA last season. By my eye test he seems pretty effective, even guarding much bigger players. He does foul at a pretty high rate, even higher than DB. But fouls and pressure is how he wears down opposing players. I would say he should definitely be the 11th guy off the bench, but I don't think we should have anyone playing more than 28 minute a game ideally.

    True.

And while being young doesn’t guarantee linear progression Jabari is a full 2 years younger than Tari.

Not guaranteed but it’s conceivable that by the time Jabari is 23 he’ll be a much better player.

You forgot gives you less than 10 pts. on most nights….yet AVERAGES 14 ppg.I stopped there. If you can’t get even the obvious right, I damn sure don’t want to wrap my arms around any in depth anaysis.

Bari will be playing basketball long past Tari. And, that’s assuming he’s fully recovered from what made him an afterthought last year.

He averaged 9.8 pts, 7 RB and shot 46.6 % overall in 22 games…that’s 22,2,2,games. Last game was Jan.1st. Maybe we should see how his durability is first. Let’s see the impact of a long, draining season…like 70 games or so..and then compare. You gotta be “in it to win it” as they say. Let’s hope he bounces back strongly and is the durable player we all hope for.

The guy with the Jabari avatar going by "Auburn Rocket" is here to dismiss a positive analysis of Jabari Smith Jr? Log into the wrong alt?

In 76 games Jabari scored less than 10 points 23 times. 70% of the time he scores more than 10 points. Forgive my in depth analysis but "most of the time" he is putting in double digits. In 7 of the games with less than 10 points he had double digit rebounds, in 5 of those games he had a positive +/-.

A 20 year old producing stats across the board the way he does, and generally contributing something to like 80% of the games he plays is nice. If you want to log into your other account to argue about it that's fine with me too.

I see it a minimum Jabari is going to carve out a basic offensive arsenal. That allows him to score around 20.

This will include elbow jumpers And he has begun to show he can do a little fake and then straight line drive using his height to finish or stop and pop.

Add in 2-4 pts a game off of offensive put backs.

Lol this. I just dont see a future where Jabari doesn't become a great player. It's almost impossible with his combination of size, demeanor and skillset.

He doesn't even have his adult body yet.

    His coordination isn't great.

But yeah he does have better length than his dear father.

For every Jabari there is a Wemby, superlative.

I really want to see Jabari bulk up more and use his body and strength to muscle defenders down low…..like a KG style of play w range.
