This isn’t even remotely close to being the same. They would have made the playoffs with or without Fields. Don’t think he won them anything in the playoffs either and I know he lost them a vital game in the WS again us. Kikuchi might be the difference between making the playoffs and missing it.
After seeing the interview with his wife...don't think he's going to take a discount to stay. His wife's eyes screams who's the boss in that relationship and she's going to demand her husband get maximum pay.
He was never going to take a discount - I don't know why he would. I don't think he will be unreasonably expensive though - 2 good months isn't going to make teams line up to pay the guy when he is already 33 years old. I'd imagine 3 years and somewhere in the $15-20M/yr range
Weird that he’s provided the most big league value already to the blue jays when he was the one not on the 40 man. Blue Jays do well promoting kids of Astros legends.
